I have had my flu jab this year and my son Thomas has also had his flu jab. I asked him once and because I worked as a nurse he always trusted what I said and came for a flu jab.I did have a little difficulty getting an appointment through the receptionists because the surgery only offered for elderly and diabetics etc.I pushed and said he was vulnerable, I also lied and said that his immune system is compromised by his medication(thyroxine for thyroiditis) which although slightly untrue it meant they would ask the doctor. I wanted to protect him from the nasties because he gets so snotty and cant blow his nose.He is vulnerable and so are the other friends at his day centre! The doctor said that was ok!! He has now been having them for the past 5 years+. He is very good and doesn't make a fuss but it doesn't hurt unless it is straight out of the fridge. Have you had yours?

My son does not like injections at all and at school he had the flu vaccination by nasal spray. I don't know if that's an option as an adult too.
He saw the GP last week and has been told he should be having annual blood tests (medication for absences) so that is going to be fun. They managed to do it at the school once by getting a specialist nurse in but at the GP before he wouldn't let the nurse go anywhere near him!
So sorry to hear that.I am not sure about nasal spray for adults but it may be that the dose is preset for children and for an adult it mat may be larger.Children of a certain size need a fifth of adult dose.
There is a special cream called EMLA which could help with needles. When you go to GP for yourself does your son go with you sometimes.
No I don’t have them, none of our family do. We rarely get colds and I just read a BMJ article saying they’re not sure if they do more harm than good.
