I have had a sore throat with lumps at the back of my throat and back of my tongue for the last 10 months. I have just seen an ENT Consultant that said it is due to having a compromised immune system (ME, PA and Hashimotos) apart from gargles, lozenges and throat sprays there was nothing else he could do and there is no cure.
I have been reading Dr Sarah Myhill's book and have decided to try going dairy free for a month (I have not eaten gluten for 4 years) to see if that would help.
Has anyone else suffered with long term sore throats and were you able to remedy it?
Thank you.

I also have hashimotos disease. Did the ENT consider that it might be that your thyroid is inflamed? Autoimmune activity on the thyroid can cause a swollen tongue, sinuses, throat, salivary glands, and glands in the neck. All or some of the time. It hurts.
If you have a constant redness at the back of your throat and a feeling of swelling it could be that. Have you ever had a scan of your thyroid and/or do you also get any red flushing of the face or neck?
The ENT Consultant did check for any swelling around the throat, thyroid and neck, I also had a Nasoendoscopy procedure, and apparently nothing sinister was showing. I had a thyroid scan about three years ago and the Endo. said there was nothing that he had not expected to see.
I am currently trying a dairy free diet to see if that helps, I don't eat gluten.
I am sorry that you have hashimotos and ME - I hope you are managing to keep both under control.
