Have read somewhere that medication changes can cause a relapse. Just over 2 weeks ago I reduced my dose of lansoprazole 30 to 15. Whilst I’m getting some rebound symptoms ( gastric “ juices” coming in mouth, parched, dry mouth , throat clearing) which I expected, my question is :
Has anyone experienced a relapse by medication changes?
Have felt bad all year due to stress , all sorts of reasons and the 1st week of reducing dose I was “ pushing “ myself so a relapse was not surprising. It’s just that it’s so much worse and I feel as I have a virus, infection, awful. GP didn’t know!!
Any similar experiences gratefully received. Xxx
Ps horrid condition isn’t it ☹️☹️☹️

what reason was given for you to reduce your lansoprazole med. I have been taking ppi drugs for nearly 30 years .a few years ago doctors reduced the dose I ended up with scarring caused by the constant reflux I now have to take them twice a day . you should go back to your doctor and tell them the lower dose is not effective . best wishes .
To see if I still need the higher dose for my lungs. I know you have to give it a month at least to see about the reflux but my concern is the ill viral feeling over and awful exhaustion
I've been taking lansoprazole for a relatively short time - since I developed astral ulcers Nov 2018 - and have recently reduced my dosage from 30 to 15mg per day. I'm currently in a flare and feeling dreadful. Hadn't thought to link the two until reading your post, I'll ask my GP about this.
Thank you for your post, sorry can't be of any help, other than to say you aren't alone with this.
