Hi everyone, does anyone know of any good specialists in the Midlands area please? I have found a list of CFS a clinics but I'm not sure which are the best ones as they all seem slightly different,
Thanks.

Hi
I'm afraid I am not aware of any specialist at all, other than the few that people mention on here. But as I am no longer able to work because of the condition I can't afford to pay for any treatment.
I live in Gloucestershire and the only clinic I am aware of is the NHS one at Frenchay hospital in Bristol. I was referred to them a few years ago and did go for one appointment. You don't see a doctor there, just an occupational therapist. He did confirm mine as being a clear cut classic case and spoke for around an hour on various aspects of managing the condition such as pacing. I was unable to travel the distance again so I then had around 8 follow up phone calls which were basically not much more than reiteration of what he had already said and a bit of moral support.
He was very pleasant and what he said made sense (largely) but to be honest it was all quite basic and didn't amount to much more than moral support. Welcome for what it was but nothing much like actual treatment.
If you do manage to find anything about anywhere else in the Midlands area I would be interested to know but as far as I am aware you are going to have to pay if you can afford it.
Good luck
Margaret.
