How to cope day to day

Hi, Useful tips for daily life... well, for me sometimes it helps to listen to affirmations on you tube - usually ones on loving myself or "I am" affirmations - and first thing in the morning before anything while drinking my coffee. Then taking care of my dog and then doing 30+ minutes of cardio. Now, sometimes, like this weekend - none of that worked to change my deep depression that I'm in right now... I ate not so good and didn't stick to my intermittent fasting (which when I do stick to it, it helps my depression and anxiety.) But, very happy that I didn't drink alcohol! I used to go to wine when I was this depressed just to change the mood, but of course I pay the price later with more depression from the alcohol. Today I woke up telling myself that I have to change! I must get out of isolation! But it's so scary, I don't know how to make friends. Anyway, I'm getting away from "helpful hints" for you --- I guess bottom line is to allow ourselves grace when we screw up and don't do what we know is good for us. I'm forcing myself to do my cardio even though a voice in my head says to just give up because I'm not worth it. It does get to be extremely hard at times... I also have faith in God and hope that he'll help me get out of the dark hole when I'm in it.
I remind myself that I only have today to focus on and to reign in my thoughts when they go beyond the day. I try to distract myself as well -- reading, watching a movie or documentary, going outdoors, etc. Work definitely helps me but when I'm not working I need to focus on well care.
Hello, I have a hard time coping with day to day life as well, so I not sure I can give the most effective tips. However, one thing that has helped me is giving myself permission to do things half assed. I have a lot of trouble cooking, so when I need to I make frozen meals. When I have trouble cleaning my room, making more defined piles is good enough for one day. Accomplishing anything like that makes me feel better in that at least I got something done and I've found that sometimes it actually makes it easier to do more. As for energising yourself, sometimes putting on upbeat music helps (anything that makes you feel happy and up). It seems silly at first, but it really can help; maybe its the fake it til you make it thing.
