Reading Half Marathon Race Report

Another lovely run at the Reading Half Marathon. My training got derailed by my asthma so I put aside my goal of beating last year's time in favour of simply completing the run and enjoying myself. My asthma did decide to rear it's ugly head resulting in taking my inhaler a few times and there are a couple of evil hills so I decided to walk those. The supporters were brilliant and, of course, I love the bling! So far I've managed to raise Β£175 for Cancer Research UK, the charity I was running for so that makes it very worthwhile! Timed it right with the weather too as it poured with rain just after we got in the car! Official time was 3:15:01 which might be slow, but I'm happy just to have been able to run it as I wasn't sure my asthma would allow me to (two weeks prior to this I couldn't even run 3 miles because of it).

Well done Hobbitfan; as a fellow asthma sufferer I empathise. Mine is pretty well controlled by inhalers at present, but you never know what allergens or viruses are about!

That is a goodly amount of money to raise too, for a very important cause. HM completed, medal brought home, funds raised; job done πŸ™‚. It is good to get the first HM of the year out of the way; the next one should be easier.πŸ™‚

What a fantastic comeback from asthma, many congratulations on finishing your HM. I love hearing about difficulties become overcome like this. Well done for raising money for such a good cause too. Avoiding a soaking was a real bonus too. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
