I thought I would send along my thoughts on last Sunday's 10K on my 1-year Runniversary. Last year at this time, I took my first steps on the C25K programme. Its been a thrilling year with lots of milestones - finishing C25K, running my first 5K, bling, parkruns, training for 10K, stress fracture, injury couch, rehab, volunteering and on Sunday, Jeff'ing my first 10K event.

What a fantastic day. The organisers really know how to do it. My entry was smooth as possible. Made my way into the crowds in Trafalgar Square. Lots of signs leading me to bag check. Funnel to the start ran smoothly, and we're off.

So great to run past so many landmarks and sites that I've visited in the past. I did a 1 min run/1 min walk/1 min run/2 min walk pattern and it worked really well. By the time I was in my final few km's the 2 min recovery was enough to let me give a good effort on the following run followed by another recover and a slower effort.

I did a great time of 1:18 which is faster than any of the 10K's that I ever ran in training 10K's before the stress fracture.

There was just a very mild ache from my metatarsalgia the next morning. I couldn't be more pleased. I can see a lot more Jeff'ing in my future.

You've already seen the excellent bling...and I'm signed up for next year!

Congratulations to you drl212 on completing the London Winter Run in a very good time of 1:18 despite a little jeffing, so happy to know that you enjoyed your run and have signed up for next years. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ βœ”οΈ

Congratulations on your first 10k event, not to mention your first runniversary. You've clearly got the bug. That's a wonderful outcome having been through the stress fracture! Jeffing can be remarkably quick!!!

great running! I’m a fan of jeffing and find it faster than running and I enjoy myself much more. Onwards and upwards xx

I loved the run...and in all of my experiences with it, I've been faster as well.

That was a strong run following a stress fracture. Through necessity, plus a little planning, I spent much of my first year of running building leg strength with long slow runs; whether that helped me to avoid a stress fracture who knows? You are clearly on the comeback trail and enjoyed your run on Sunday; impressive bling display too. Great work.

Thanks so very much! I had been doing some strength training before the Stress Fx but after I did it, I was seeing physio and I asked a trainer to focus solely on legs/core in our limited sessions. The rest I could do on my own. I think that has really helped. Plus Jeff'ing really makes a difference as I have noticed I've not built my stamina yet to previous levels. Now if only work/weather would work with me. I want to get back to consistent 3X/week.

You are doing all of the right things πŸ‘. Weather is picking up a bit……retirement was my cure for work πŸ™‚

Ha!! I am having my first conversation with my financial folks about retirement next week. Probably not for a few years, but its on the horizon.

Good to have a plan/timetable. I gave a couple of years’ informal β€œnotice” and stuck to it.

Well done drl212 you're certainly back with a bang! I agree that walk/run can be really effective and surprisingly fast, and good for keeping the injuries at bay. And what fabulous bling too!
