I thought I would send along my thoughts on last Sunday's 10K on my 1-year Runniversary. Last year at this time, I took my first steps on the C25K programme. Its been a thrilling year with lots of milestones - finishing C25K, running my first 5K, bling, parkruns, training for 10K, stress fracture, injury couch, rehab, volunteering and on Sunday, Jeff'ing my first 10K event.
What a fantastic day. The organisers really know how to do it. My entry was smooth as possible. Made my way into the crowds in Trafalgar Square. Lots of signs leading me to bag check. Funnel to the start ran smoothly, and we're off.
So great to run past so many landmarks and sites that I've visited in the past. I did a 1 min run/1 min walk/1 min run/2 min walk pattern and it worked really well. By the time I was in my final few km's the 2 min recovery was enough to let me give a good effort on the following run followed by another recover and a slower effort.
I did a great time of 1:18 which is faster than any of the 10K's that I ever ran in training 10K's before the stress fracture.
There was just a very mild ache from my metatarsalgia the next morning. I couldn't be more pleased. I can see a lot more Jeff'ing in my future.
You've already seen the excellent bling...and I'm signed up for next year!
