5th run out of 5 and the coldest!Sunday 16th February, overcast, dry, 3°C but felt like -3°C
Myself, TailChaser , Shake-and-run , and Time_Lord all travelled to the village of Ilmington to run up and over that hill and collect our participant rewards...
Sausages! Once again transformed into tasty toad in the hole.
And for those of us attending all 5 events we collected our hoodies too. Extremely welcome in the cold conditions!
Originally we planned to stop at the village pub but instead went to our local for food and a toast to each other.
To friendship (and running)!

PS. I was aiming for a course record of sub 53 minutes and ended up sub 50 🐱👍 mostly thanks to running down the steep side of the hill with complete abandon of my senses and any semblance of self preservation.

Well done the Kats and Shakes and Time_Lord! Seriously cold up here too, so you have my empathy! Guinness and Toad in the Hole will make very fine restoratives.
That was a speedy run Katnap🐱; ok you had a downhill stretch, but there are some serious uphills on your route if I remember correctly . Sub 50 mins is just showing off 😉.👏👏👏👏👏
Absolutely. I’m doing my usual post series quandary now - the love/hate feeling of it all. Do I go for a 5th series? The next race is a week after the Chicago Marathon. Katnap isn’t keen but that doesn’t tend to stop me…
Of course RW! It’s going to be a major adventure, literally! I’ve just checked how far away from Chicago you are compared to us and it’s about 7k miles more for you 😱
Whooo whoop! Running downhill with abandon sounds a little dangerous but also fun and I’m glad to hear you survived unscathed. Well done to you, TailChaser and Shake-and-run for running in the cold throughout the winter months and gaining that well-earned hoody and sausages.
Sticking your arms out to balance yourself, that’s the trick I use. No idea if it works but it makes it more fun 😅 That and the Continental Tyre soles of my Adidas shoes - very handy! Katnap is just nuts 😂
I salute you, you crazy sausage runners! It’s not easy running in the cold, and the number of miles you’ve logged this winter is above and beyond, and boy it’s been cold!
Bet it was a relief flying down the hill being lured by the sausages and Guinness. What a lovely reward. And a new hoodie for your collection too. Well done Katnap TailChaser Shake-and-run and Time_Lord ! 👏👏👏👏
Awesome! You ran, you abandoned your senses , collected sausages and got a hoodie too.....I've loved reading about all these races you've all been doing 😁
Thank you guys for waiting at the line to cheer me in. So glad my run was better than last month, my descent of Larkstoke was a bit steadier than yours but I did run all the way down, managed not to slip in any of the mud, stayed upright and enjoyed the view.
