I was booked to run this race with 2 friends. We were all secretly hoping it would be cancelled due to the weather forecast (with a weather warning) but it wasn’t! Up early & off we went, it was reasonably calm & dry on the journey & when we arrived, maybe the forecasters were wrong this time?
Bags dropped & we started our warm up walk when the wind & rain arrived 💨🌧️ Thankfully, we had timed our arrival so that we wouldn’t have long to wait before the start of the race & they did start it very promptly. Off we went, heads down , trying to avoid the driving rain. The Longleat course is undulating (hilly!) and the hills arrive quite quickly & are repeated on the 2nd loop of the first part of the course.
I decided to get through the course as quickly as I could without injuring myself. No course PB for me, I was 10 mins slower than the last time I ran it 3 years ago but we turned up & we finished so are taking that as a win 🏅
The queue for coffee was so long & we were soaked (dripping) & very cold so headed back to our respective homes for a hot shower as soon as we’d finished.
Have a good week everyone, more wet & windy weather forecast for my area! 😞

Apologies I missed the Friday pom-pom call this week but you didn’t need mine - congrats on completing this in horrid weather! Did you see or hear any lions 👀 😂?
Congratulations Runnin-g; an awesome effort. One of those events which is great to look back on but is a major trial to complete! Good strength building at the start of the season 🙂. 🥂
Well done for this one Runnin-g ! My sister also ran it - and like you, was hoping it might get cancelled! Definitely a case of getting it done and thinking of the bling!🌬️🌧️🏅🌧️🌬️😬🤣
The prospect of running in horrible weather is often worse than the actual event. We look out at it with dread 😫but usually it turns out not to be as bad as feared. Once we start running and hopefully acclimate to the conditions 🙂🙏
Not getting a decent coffee after an event does unreasonably irk me I have to say 😁
I hope you’ve recovered well and are planning your next thing 🙂👍
well done! It was not a good weekend to be racing but you did it.
I hope the lions were well locked up for your run. You have brought back memories of my childhood. Lions walking past the car and my dad worrying about what the monkeys might do. It’s probably quite different now.
