This rainy morning my friends and I ran the Cheshire half marathon with a few of our running club - it was our second race at this distance and I was so nervous because I absolutely hated my first one at Liverpool in March.
A few things I did differently; fuelled properly leading up to it two days before (carb loading), had porridge for breakfast (too nervous to eat anything but a banana last time) and a banana on the way there. Had a wee before the race started (had to stop at toilets early on last time to find I didn’t even need a wee). Trained for longer leading up to it (trained up to 12 miles with many weekly long distance runs). All these things made this experience so much more enjoyable - I felt strong the whole way round and was looking to enjoy it (wasn’t bothered by time) but I still managed to knock 14 mins off my previous time so win, win!
I feel I can enter another half going forward and feel confident I can finish it and enjoy it! ☺️

Wow that's amazing, congratulations. You clearly learned so much from that first half and made the most of those lessons for your second. Fill number three with extra confidence and who knows what you can achieve 😊
Thanks Dexy5 ☺️ that’s what I said at the start; we’re already wet, let’s just enjoy it.
So many of my running pals really enjoyed their first half marathon experience and I just hated it so I’m glad I can put it behind me now. Thoroughly enjoyed it. ☺️
