Second half marathon - Cheshire at Capesthorne Hall

This rainy morning my friends and I ran the Cheshire half marathon with a few of our running club - it was our second race at this distance and I was so nervous because I absolutely hated my first one at Liverpool in March.

A few things I did differently; fuelled properly leading up to it two days before (carb loading), had porridge for breakfast (too nervous to eat anything but a banana last time) and a banana on the way there. Had a wee before the race started (had to stop at toilets early on last time to find I didn’t even need a wee). Trained for longer leading up to it (trained up to 12 miles with many weekly long distance runs). All these things made this experience so much more enjoyable - I felt strong the whole way round and was looking to enjoy it (wasn’t bothered by time) but I still managed to knock 14 mins off my previous time so win, win!

I feel I can enter another half going forward and feel confident I can finish it and enjoy it! ☺️

We got soaked through before we even started but we said that was a positive as I’d hate to be running in the hot sunshine 👍🏻

Easier to keep rain out than heat that is for sure.

Wow that's amazing, congratulations. You clearly learned so much from that first half and made the most of those lessons for your second. Fill number three with extra confidence and who knows what you can achieve 😊

Well done on your HM Dendev75 , the weather looks extremely similar to what we had down south. But once you’re wet, you can’t get wetter.

The butterflies on the first race are immense and it just goes to show how much you experience you gained from it. . Wear your bling with pride.

Thanks Dexy5 ☺️ that’s what I said at the start; we’re already wet, let’s just enjoy it.

So many of my running pals really enjoyed their first half marathon experience and I just hated it so I’m glad I can put it behind me now. Thoroughly enjoyed it. ☺️
