A Return to Regent's

It's been one of those weeks. For the first time since I started the C25K back in February, I found my motivation to get out the door to be flagging. I did manage to get my three runs for the week with a last minute entry into the Regent's Park 5K. (You know me and bling...)

I started out faster than I thought I would but I wasn't out to prove anything - just glad to be out. I think I ran about 2K at that speed before I noticed that my HR was a bit high. So walked for a few tenths to bring it back down and restarted. At the end, I even found I had it in me to make a dash for the finish line.

Who would have 'thunk' it but another PB. Fastest KM, 1 mile, and 5K. I'm starting to feel that bounce or 'kissing the ground' that OF talks about especially when I frequently check in with my form (thanks CB and MU).

Now back to normal and looking forward to my next run!! I finished the NRC 10K plan, so thought I'd jump over to the RW 4-week 10K plan in these last weeks before Vitality 10000.

All the best...

PS - I must note that I purchased some new running shoes a couple of weeks ago and I do credit them for making a big difference. I had my shoe size scanned and gait analysis. These new shoes are half a size larger than my previous ones - both stabilisers for over pronating. Not sure if I can mention the store, but they were really helpful.

I really wouldn't have thought of buying another pair at this point but I read a post here about feet swelling with running. I never experienced that until I started some of my longest runs in the 10K programme.

Well done on another PB drl212 - thats fab 🏅- and exciting that you have entered the Vitality 10000. I did it a few years ago and it is a fantastic event! 🙂

Gorgeous medal 🤩🥰🏅👌

It’s good to go from one NTC to another if you can as it helps with motivation. I flop about like a fish out of water if I have no plan on the go 😁

Good luck with it 🙂 enjoy yourself

I like a plan; except when I am on holiday where just bimbling along taking in the view is a real pleasure. Sounds as though you will be all set for the Vitality 👍. I went up a half shoe size last year; and my feet definitely swell on long runs. CB advises slackening off your laces when you have finished a run of any length. Always something to learn. Great work.

Thanks for the tip and 'truth' - always learning...!

Wow. Congratulations on the latest PB! New shoes can make a real difference to how you feel.Recommending stores and products is absolutely fine - and can be very helpful - but promoting your own business or products is (understandably I think) not permitted on the HU forums.

In terms of motivation - you may find that always having an event booked in advance is a good motivator for you, especially given your growing love for bling 😍

Thanks very much! They really do make a difference.

I went to Runner's Need in London (Kensington). Really terrific folks. Had the electronic sizing/video gait analysis. Very educational. Couple of recommended shoes and I picked the ones that felt the best.

Very nice bling drl212 ! Congratulations on the new pb. I’m doing the Vitality 10000 too, for the third time. There’s always a really great atmosphere. One of my favourites. You’ll love it 👍🏻

If you email the support address here, you might be able to get access to your old login.

I’ve contacted them to let them know as you should be able to post in the communities you are currently locked out of. This is just a glitch-it happens occasionally! Tech should be able to sort it.

Thanks, MU! I will email them.
