Hello VRBs Just a quick update to let you know that I’ve arrived safely and have declared for my events. Pressure is building to say the least and I didn’t sleep a wink last night. Need to get that sorted as my first race is at 1.40 UK time tomorrow. Must sleep better tonight!
The atmosphere in the centre is amazing. So many lovely people from all over the world. The Kenyan team look amazing! Opening ceremony is tonight but I’m too tired to go.
Lovely sunny weather too which is lovely.
Shame I can’t post any more pictures but I’ll update as I go.
Happy running everyone!

Thanks for the update, we are all getting excited for you. If you have headphones when I can't sleep I putt a podcast in really quietly, just so I have background drone, helps me go to sleep. Hope you get good sleep tonight x
Brian, you have done the hard work; niggles, training and long distance travel. You know that you will give it your best….the only thing you can control now is getting the start right, and that happens tomorrow. Nothing else worth getting wound up about at this stage.
I have been watching Olympic running on iplayer. Might be some inspiration there if you can log in.….certainly diversion !!👍
Thank you BC. 😀 I’ve just done a Pilates video which has really helped. Absolutely right, the hard work is done. Trust me I’ve watched the all the sprint races several times 😂
oooh, so exciting Brian! Savour every minute and just remember that every single bit of training is there and itching to go 🏃♂️
Don’t worry too much about the sleep thing. I’ve read that, in the last Olympics, one of our team didn't sleep a wink because her room mate snored all night, but then she got up the next morning and won gold!
Did you see the italian Olympic swimmer who was sleeping outside in a park as he couldn’t get to sleep in the village as it was too hot and noisy He looked sound asleep in the photo of him kipping on his towel 😀
Yes I did. I was shocked!! Well at least my room here is cozy and the other Brits are great company. Sadly I’ve been seeded in my heat tomorrow with one of them who is a close mate. We’ll be mortal enemies on the start line tomorrow though as only 2 will qualify outright for the semis and we also have the European champion in with us so he’s practically got one of them already. Gonna be so tense but maybe one of us can go through as a fastest loser
Oh wow RunBrianRun , I think I must have missed a post along the way. Are you at a masters Olympics? I wish you speedy running and lots of bling. Do post a pic of you in GB kit!
Definitely excited for you here. You've got this -the moment you step out on the track you'll know what to do with that excess adrenaline. In the meantime, breathe deeply and visualise our cheers, the finish line and the podium 💪🥇
Aw .... I do hope you have had some good sleep. I should imagine that you have learnt many marginal gains, the term the British cycling team talked of some years back. I expect that every routine, procedure, the preparation steps are all clear in your mind and you will go through them one by one. Here's to all going in a way that is the best you could hope for. 😊🏃🏻♂️
