I've seen this before, so thought for all you wonderful marathon runners let us know, is this what it's really like?

A little light relief, can you tell I'm feeling slightly better?
😂 The bananas would be in the “Sheer Hell” box….never been able to eat them!!🥴
I'm not at all keen either, but at the moment most things would beat my potato or something with custard diet 🤣, at lunch time my potato came with butter and tonight it will come with cheese, just love hospital food 🤣
Haha. I do love custard though ...
Before this I don't think I've had custard since I was a kid 😲😂
Whaaaattttt??? Goodness me!!!
I know, I was a rotten mum, I baked cakes and biscuits, made fudge and butterscotch treats but my poor kids didn't get puddings
😍😍😍 That doesn't sound rotten at all, lucky kids ... but it's never going to be too late to give them custard (in my opinion anyways 😍)
I didn't even get a banana. My marathon was a virtual home-grown effort. I was just happy it finished near the car (although I did have to do a couple of extra trots up and down the road first to get the full 26 miles in!).
So glad you're feeling a bit better - thank goodness for running doctors 🥰
Yes, and bread and butter pudding with custard 🤣 I sent my granddaughter pics of my food and she pointed out it's all the same colour 🤣 but so nice to eat anything at the moment
Oooh I like the sound of that! Comfort food at it's very best. Colour or not, it's going to be full of calories and right now that's just what you need. Enjoy!!! 😍
You get a t-shirt and a banana?? Count me in! 😂 Glad you are feeling a bit better xx
I am not going to try it to find out...but it is funny! x
Very funny 🤣 And I’m sure that’s exactly what it’s like!
Nah, it was mostly lots of fun. Plenty of snacks en route, then individual picnic bags, a free beer and a proper technical t-shirt at the finish. We also got quality running socks when we picked up our race numbers. Training, however, was frequently grim.
I'm so pleased you're feeling a bit better. Here's to your being able to eat more than pulverised-into-submission carbs, and to enjoying longer walks and getting out to freedom again!
Thanks 😊, I'm about to be moved to a ward, probably be here for a few more days at least, Your marathon sounds amazing, I'm hoping to be able to run again one day
You're so kind SueAppleRun , as always. The Gévaudan trail marathon was almost three years ago; no clue how I managed it.
I have every confidence that you'll be back running one day 👍☘️🎽👟🏃♀️
If there's no bling - I ain't running!
Sorry to hear you are in the hospital and I hope you get well soon...
Glad to hear you are feeling better and I agree No bling, no deal. I am assuming the marathon medals are no less than diamond studded on solid gold. Then I would be tempted. 😅
Sorry to hear you’re in hospital. Hope you can escape soon and get back to more colourful food xx
I didn't realise you were in hospital either SueAppleRun 😪glad you are feeling a bit better. When i was in last year was when I developed my Vinted shopping addiction! Plus sadly I only downloaded iplayer on the last day, that was a great boost as was in a noisy ward and could plug earphones in! Hope you are out soon 😘 xxx
Thank you Ali, my music headbands are a real bonus, I watched some Olympics yesterday on my phone, then played some music then coach B podcast sent me to sleep 🤣, I'll think about shopping if I'm here much longer 😁
aliboo70 what did you say??? My Amazon basket is now full 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was about to click buy now when I realised there's no one home to accept delivery 🤣🤣🤣, it's full of sketch pads and pencils, nail art and face creams so far, I better put some back xx
Follow aliboo70 's Vinted recommendation instead SueAppleRun ! Then you can get it sent to a shop or somewhere, and anyone with the parcel code can pick it up.
I got my last three pairs of running shoes on Vinted. And my most recent pair of running shorts. And non-running shoes and boots and dresses and tops and jumpers and books and perfume and cosmetics and and and...
In my defence 🙄 I have just donated five bags of clothes, shoes and bedding to various charities.
There's no one to collect, remember, I moved 🤣 but if I get home at the weekend I can have another look 😁 I've yet to try vinted
Yes, I know you moved. 😄 But on Vinted you wouldn't have to use your home address, or anywhere near it, come to that. You could get stuff sent to a shop or parcel collection point or locker that's convenient for family or friends. Send them the collection code, then they can collect, and bring to you whenever!
I’m sorry to hear you are in hospital Sue. Hope you are out and about sooner than later.
I find the races in the cooler months here tend to have better post run meals. There is one in March where they serve a bowl of chili and a cold beer which was quite nice. Some race orgs offer a bit more swag too. There is a super local race that gave us tshirt, socks, stickers, a hand made wooden medal and I splurged on a chunky hoodie too. And a banana
I loved my marathon until the last 5km’s. Here’s a photo of my medal.
Good to hear you’re feeling better. ❤️
Hey SueAppleRun so sorry to read your in hospital. I hope you won’t be in for much longer. Get well soon sweetheart ❤️🙋♀️🥰xx.
Hi SueAppleRun it's so great to see you post 📫 😊 I hope that things are looking up for you. I feel that 'A Marathon will find you out.' It's so physically and mentally demanding. For me the race itself is really tough as there are just so many variables on that specific day (weather, toilet and or tummy issues etc). How you actually feel when you start the race you never really know. In shorter distances you can manage but a Marathon it's much more challenging. However, the day itself is a celebration of all that's gone before it. The months of demanding training, time on feet and hours and hours of race preparation and conditioning really are the hard yards. It's the only thing about running that scares me a bit so it's why I do them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm not planning a marathon, just a bit of light relief, there's a chance I'll be home over the weekend and then healing will begin in earnest, I couldn't walk to the beach at the moment but will get there
We both wish you the safest of recoveries and look forward to the day you start to go out once again. Willing you a successful recovery and recuperation 💚
None of us plans to do a marathon when we take our first tentative steps in our new run shoes. I did my first one as I wanted to see if I could. Having done one I wanted to run another one to check it wasn’t a fluke
I’m doing my 8th this November all things being well 🙂
We really will and we'll both look forward to it 😀
It can be tough near the end when you just want a sit down 😀 It can be hell then, especially if the weather isn’t great. All is forgotten once you’ve got your medal/tee/goodie bag/cake and a drink. A banana is a must for me post race of any length 🍌🍰☕️ 🙂
