I'm on a 10k programme and have started thinking that it might be time to carry some water/nutrition, too. Yesterday I did my first 9k and by the end it was pretty warm.
Do you recommend any equipment for carrying water/nutrition?
Appreciate all of your thoughts.

I’m on my third belt because I like belts and can imagine getting very hot with a vest so have avoided them thus far. Although I appreciate that if I was running longer distances then I would probably need a vest.
I hate the idea of running with something in my hand and have read that this can also affect the way you run but I know some runners prefer hand-held and so, you probably need to experiment a bit and see what works best for you.
Previously I used Nathan belts but this time I went for a different brand, and so can recommend this one. I’ve had it for a few months and worn it for HM distance. It also has a good sized pouch for my phone, snacks, keys, etc. It sits comfortably and doesn't budge at all. I’m very happy with it.
Hi drl212 I have one pretty much identical to IP, and I too thoroughly recommend it. I have a vest and also a flip belt, and wear neither of those because I don’t get on with them. I wanted to jettison my hydration vest 2/3 of the way round a HM race as it was bugging me no end - and it wasn’t even heavy! Some people love them though, so worth a try. 😀
Thanks IP for the info! I'm hoping to continue my running journey past 10k and yesterday, with the heat, I really would have liked to have some water towards the end of my run.
I have small bottles, not sure where I got them, and fill one and poke it in the waistband of my shorts, I've tried both a vest and belt and neither worked for me, minds you I rarely go out for more than an hour lately
For my longer runs (over 90 minutes in winter, 60 minutes in summer) I have a hydration backpack. It's like a lightweight backpack but with lots of pockets and a hydration bladder (1L or 2L) in the back.
In the heat of a late August morning I can easily drink 1.5L during a 2.5 hour run.
Hi, I prefer a vest as don't know I'm wearing mine but I recently bought a harrier belt to try but can't comment yet... I first got a very cheap decathlon vest and LOVE it but needed something bigger for longer distances so got a Harrier one which I also love! On a hot race I'd always carry my own water but on ok days like last Sundays 10k I rely on water stations. Happy shopping!
