I already wrote a post but it seems not to have posted.
It was great race with a happy vibe, a lot of crowd support, funny signs, water sprinklers throughout the last quarter and mini electrolyte ice pops close to the finish line.
The weather was nice albeit a bit warm but not as hot as it usually is for the race. It was about 16 C when I started and 22-23 when I finished.
I had fun, high-fived and thanked volunteers and supporters along the way and finished uninjured and with some energy left. I tend to err on the side of caution rather than take risks. I probably could have pushed a bit harder. Note to self- In the future don’t wander all over the city the day before. My legs were tired more than my breathing.
Overall, I’m happy with my run! 🙂 It was my first HM since 2021. I had to cancel 2 in the past 2 years that were scheduled due to injuries and boyfriend’s surgery in one instance. I’m okay with my chip finishing time of 2:50:01 for the HM and my 2:08:04 10 mile time. I’d like to sign up for a fall HM and try to do it in less than 2:45:00. I’m thinking about the Toronto Harbourfront in October.
Thanks to everyone on HU for your posts ! I don’t post very often but I love to read everyone’s posts. The HU10 helped so much with my motivation and getting my runs done.
Happy Running! 🙂🏃🏻♀️

Congratulations Lavender1962 on your great race and brilliant time too. Your photo is wonderful you look so focused. Thank you for sharing such an interesting post and I only wish we could have had some of that warm temperature here today. It really has been a mixture of rain, sunny…ish windy but very wet.
Thanks Folkylass! We’ve been having some rainy, windy conditions since the race too. Today, the weather looks better. I hope that yours will improve too.
Congratulations on a great run. Well done! I love that you are talking autumn HM already - a sure sign of a good race! Toronto Harbourfront sounds lovely. I'm registered for Vancouver Island half in October ... but that's not exactly close to you is it 😍
Yes, it is a positive thing that I’m thinking about one in the fall. 🙂 Choices, choices. Now I’m also considering the Rimouski half marathon instead of Toronto . It’s much smaller but looks beautiful and it’s fast and flat as well.
Vancouver Island Half sounds great. BC is a beautiful place to run. Is it the one in Victoria ? My sister lives in BC but I usually visit in the summer.
Yes, along the coast from Victoria. I'm really looking forward to it. Turns out it's also Thanksgiving weekend so I snaffled some accommodation fast!!!
Hi Lavender; I was wondering how you had got on! So pleased that you had a great day. This was a major event, so easy to be overwhelmed….. but you high fived your way to the finish. Brilliant work.
I have always done the “just make sure I finish” pace on HM runs too. I am aiming for a HM pb in a couple of weeks time; not a race, just me on the trails which lie just 10 minutes from our front door. NRC HM plan has been a big help. “Increasing pace without increasing effort “ is the theme…we will see!
I have seen Toronto Waterfront; given decent weather it should be a really good place to run, and, from memory, pretty flat. Hope it goes well for you. You might run into Decker who lives in that part of Ontario and still visits us occasionally.
Thanks for dropping in; you can always be sure of a welcome here 🙂
Some of the commentary on the app sounds a bit cheesy; but there are some gold nuggets buried within. Increasing pace without increasing effort has helped me a lot!
