Six years ago today I finally decided to start Couch 2 5k after prevaricating for several weeks and did Week 1 Run 1 before collapsing in a sweaty, breathless mess! It has been such a roller coaster of a week, I had to go for a run to try to de-stress. The celebrant came to dad’s this morning to discuss the arrangements for mum’s funeral next week and I then had a 3 hour drive home, by which time it was raining. However, the rain stopped, the sun came out and I finally went out at 7.30 and ran 6k (1k for each year of running) under a clear blue sky as the sun was starting to set. I aimed for a steady 7.30/km and went along my normal training route, so I was able to just lose myself in my thoughts and memories. Cathartic!

I’m so sorry about your mum Sandie.

Running can be our place to go when life gets tough or sad so I’m pleased you managed that lovely sounding 6K.

Congratulations on your sixth runniversary and here’s to many, many more 🥰

I'm glad that that run has helped release some of that huge emotion and grief for a while Sandie.

Your 6th Runniversery run, you will have many more, and your mum will always be with you.

Thinking of you. 🩷
