Hello VRBs. Wondering if anyone has any experiences of Trail Escape marathons? trailescape.co.uk They plan 3 fully supported and waymarked runs in the UK in 2024 that start in city centres, head out into the countryside/hills using established trails before heading back into the city to finish. (The 3rd run is actually a city to city trail run). I’ve not heard of them before and doing one of these would be totally new for me as I’ve just started to explore trail running. If I go for it this would be my main event for 2024 and would be a change in direction for me as I’m more typically a road runner, with my previous marathons having all been on closed roads. Just trying to find out more about the events, organisation, support, etc before I decide. Really struggling to keep motivated just now and can’t decide what this year’s focus should be.

Any experience of Trail Escape marathons?
Sorry but no. I have checked them out though and it all looks like great fun!
As you say, something new.
Let us know if you decide to go for it and I wonder which cities they’ll end up with?
From Companies House information it looks like they were only incorporated three weeks ago: find-and-update.company-inf...
The International Trail Running Association has more info about trail running in general: itra.run/
Hope this helps a bit. Please pm me if you'd like any more info about my own experience of doing a trail marathon.
It looks like they're just starting out as everything is at "register interest" stage without any real detail of the routes.
Where there are plenty of mentions to walk or hike, they will likely be "inclusive" events, which tend to have no cut-offs, and light, low-technicality trails.
This isn't to say it won't be tough though! Just helps to benchmark against similar companies / events. If this is your cup of tea but prefer something a little more established, then someone like "Ultra Challenge" would likely suit, but they are comparatively expensive. I think the run/walk/hike events tend to be due to the inherant duration.
If you're looking for something a little more run-centric, sites like Sientries and Find a Race are good places to start.
My search also suggests they are very new. No reviews anywhere and their facebook page only goes back to last month. You would be a trailblazer!
Thanks all. I think it’s the newness of this particular offering that makes me nervous. I like a bit of experience to foster confidence they know what they’re doing. But what they offer sounds quite interesting. They’ve now announced the cities as (my local one) Edinburgh (city centre to pentland hills and back), Manchester (city centre to Peak District national park and back), and Bristol to Bath (city to city). Will ponder a bit more.
