Wow what a race! The sun shone after rain for most of the day before and I set off to defend my VW50-59 title from last year. I didn't manage that (about 10 minutes off the pace, never going to make that up) but I managed a respectable 1:46:19, about 4 minutes faster than last year. The 900ft of elevation was as gruelling as ever but the scenery was lovely. This smiley photo was just before 10 miles, after a downhill section. By mile 11 my face must have been totally different! My worrying blisters weren't too bad; just a bit of burn from mile 9ish. Excellent marshalling and support all the way round. Now for a light week while I make peace with my legs.
