We have a multinational presence to support this weekend !!!
Please get your pompoms dusted down, your voices tuned up and your positive vibes all in a row! Our VRBs need you π₯³
βοΈ First up, on Saturday, our cheers should have been needed in Quebec where Β Lavender1962 was taking on the Pβtit Train du Nord half marathon , billed as 'the fastest course in North America' it looks absolutely stunning. Sadly injury has stopped play, so instead can we send Lavender all our healing vibes π
βοΈ Next, on Sunday, we head to Wales where Β cheekychipmunks and Β womblejogger are both running the Cardiff Half Marathon, a 'flat, fast, iconic road race round Wales' capital city'. Pob lwc to you both, I hope the weather in South Wales will be nicer than it was last week!!! π€
βοΈ On Sunday, our support is also needed in Scotland where Β Chickenears will be running his very first race (and just a year after starting C25K) - the Loch Ness Marathon, together with Β Cowladyrunning who will be running her first marathon. May yer lum reek. Will they see Nessie? 'Maybe aye, maybe nae'. π
As loud as we can - Wooohoooo!!!!!! With the right wind, you may just be able to hear the cheering π£ Best of luck to all runners this weekend, fingers crossed for perfect running conditions and fantastic events!!!
So excited Linda, my pom poms are almost shaking themselves this weekend what a fabulous line up! Have wonderful, amazing races everyone! π₯³π₯³π₯³
There are a few Fordys running the Loch Ness marathon and one of them has been watching it being set up. I thought Cowladyrunning and Chickenears might appreciate a picture of Nessie. Sheβs all ready to cheer them on as well but she may have trouble holding some Pom poms!
Woo Hoo, What an exciting range of runs in lots of lovely locations. Have fun everyone and bring back the bling and goodie bags. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Good luck everyone you'll smash it I'm sure, pom poms are a waving over here with a little bit of our Welly wind assistance too 'may the wind be at your back" Wheeeeee!
Lots of North Eastern whoops and cheers going on up here.πππππ. Whether you are feeling undercooked or raring to go, HU power will push you over the finish line.We are all with you πππππππ
Thanks for the pompoms everyone. I have an eerie sense of calm ahead my first HM for yonks and no recent long distance training to speak of. Iβm absolutely beside myself with excitement though, as this is a huge event and I canβt wait to get trotting! ππππ
Good luck to everyone else running races this weekend! Wales and Scotland sound amazing .
Unfortunately, I injured my right glute and had to pull out of my half-marathon. I have worked my way up to short runs. The weather is beautiful here right now. Iβm sure it will be a wonderful run for everyone.ππ
Thanks very much for this thread, Linda, and thanks to everyone for the pom-poms. Having arrived up in hilly Inverness today, Iβm now a little concerned that my training in flat old Norfolk may not have been adequate!π Oh well, Iβll plod along and hope! Best of luck to everyone else running this week - have fun!
It may seem mad, but often a change in incline can be refreshing - gives some muscles a bit of a break. Keep an open mind and look forward to any downhills (aeroplane arms and cries of 'wheeeee' may or may not be mandatory, use your discretion on the day π)
Hi all, Iβll probably do a full report later but just popping in to say I finished the marathon and ran all the way. It was such a lovely event and I (strangely) really enjoyed it. Thanks again for all the fantastic messages and pom-poms.
Wishing everyone pom poms for this weekend, not only is it The Loch Ness Marathon which a friend of mine is running, The Great Scottish Run in Glasgow is this Sunday, I am going there as a spectator to cheer several people I know who are taking part.
was a disasterous run, had to walk to the finish from mile 6 ... see my post .... struggled hard and altough there were real moments of enjoyment overall i can't see myself running that distance again
