17 days since I last ran, although I did manage to complete a 15000 mile round trip to Denali National Park Alaska via Vancouver in that period. So, under exercised, over fed, jet lagged and generally exhausted, I think that I just need to lace up and get out there asap for a slow plod to assess the scale of the rehab programme required. Happily the dizziness which plagued me for about 5 weeks before the trip has disappeared; I left it marooned somewhere out on the Toklat East Fork flood plain, along with the moose, grizzlies and caribou which call it home. I plan to slip back into the NRC HM Plan as soon as I can. It seems an age since I was churning out 10 mile runs for fun….but as we well know, we are engaged in a game of snakes and ladders and we have to learn to take the rough with the smooth (too many metaphors there!). Maybe a 5k tomorrow..or whatever feels enough. At least I don’t need to look out for bears up here!
It is good to be back.I just need to run! 🙂

How are you getting on David? My brother in law went into cardiac arrest when out walking with my sister. His heart stopped three times…but a passer by, who happened to be a cardiologist from the local University Hospital, brought him back each time. He had a defibrillator fitted and is now back to his old self. I hope you are recovering likewise.🤞🤞🤞🤞
Thanks Beachcomber66 I’m not doing too badly. I’ve still got a long way to go but everything is working as it should according to my latest ECG ❤️🤞 I’m doing cardiac rehab sessions at a local gym as well as exercises at home. I was given the all clear to restart C25K a couple of weeks ago and I’m now on week 2. It’s great to be able to get out there again! 🏃♂️
I bet it is! All I really need is to start a plan and then see week on week improvement, and I am content. You have dealt with a major leg issue and recovered well by sticking to a plan; I am sure you can do the same with this…..sensibly.
You have had more than your share of bad luck now; onwards and upwards 👍
Welcome back BC. I hope your trip was everything you hoped it would be. 🥰
It probably was a good thing that you had that break when you did. You weren’t able to be tempted to go too far too soon, and it gave your pesky dizziness time to take its leave. Adios partner, don’t bother returning. 👋
Enjoy your test run. Enjoy it for what it is, and work from there, Captain S-style. 😇 🏃♂️😀
I think it was a migraine thing and all bound up with the trip cheeky. Hopefully that is the end of it. Really steady plod tomorrow; and flat white to follow!!😋
I am absolutely certain that we have done the right thing through our trip. We would have regretted any other decision for the rest of our lives. We met up with one of Jill’s friends in Vancouver; she has had a bright star in the Sagittarius constellation named after Jill. Lovely idea.
So glad to hear it! I don’t know where the Sagittarius constellation is. Can you see it from the UK? What a lovely thing to do. Your bright star continues to shine 😍
There are low artificial light conditions there too; it is perfect. If she hadn’t specified Alaska we would have chosen Scilly (which she loved)….so it works perfectly.
We will see tomorrow TC. I have done a bit of walking over the past couple of weeks; it is just running fitness that will have suffered. I will get there.
Thanks SAR. Hope you are maintaining the form you were showing before I left. I have to down load my pics from my friends camera….but this is a better version of one I posted last week..
How lovely to see you back again Beachcomber66 , and I am so pleased that those dizzy spells have been sent packing. It does sound like a wonderful trip, and I imagine it was one full of emotions too. Now you are back home with Molly, you and Mrs BC can get back to your familiar routines.
Good luck with your HM training; I’m sure you’ll soon be back to where you want to be.
Speaking of snakes and ladders, while you are working your way up, I have recently slipped down the sciatica snake , so hope to join you again soon.
Ouch Dexy; sciatica is just uncalled for. I hope that it doesn’t linger.
I am carefully sorting out my sleep pattern; not easy with an eight hour time difference (nine hours in Alaska) but I am getting there. I dreamed that somebody had stolen Molly last night! Relieved to receive a wagging tail welcome this morning. The sun is shining up here, so hopefully a short trot is on the cards 🙂
Thanks Floss…running and bears don’t mix well….a runner is like meals on wheels to a hungry grizzly! The odd aggressive dog or two won’t seem so bad in future!🙂
