August is upon us! UK weather forecasters would even have us believe there is some summer weather approaching. But whatever the weather, whatever the time of year, today is most definitely Friday and that can mean just one thing .... it's time to shake out your pompoms again!
Please do your very best, because we have some fabulous VRBs heading for various start lines this week- and they would all like our help!!!
First up, on Saturday 5th August we have:
Freecloud who will be running the Breffini 3 Province Challenge HM, his eighth half marathon this year! - and what's more, he's banking it as a training run for his upcoming marathon!!!
RosesAreRed777 who will be running York 10k, her first official 10k. We’ll all be cheering for you - listen out for us if you need a boost along the way. As your first official 10k it’s got to be a PB right? So just go out there and be sure to enjoy it!
Hedgehogs123 who will tackling the Revesby Race The Estate 10K, running through a beautiful country park full of deer; held on the same day as their country show this promises to be great day out
RunBrianRun has been invited to run for his Masters Area Club (VAC) at the England Masters Inter-Area Track and Field Challenge; he will be called upon for the 100m and the 4x100m relay and is also a reserve runner for the 200m. What an honour! We’ll be cheering you every single step of the way as your feet fly across the track to that finish line. May the wind not have any nasty surprises in store!
If any more of our lovely VRBs are taking part in a racing event this weekend and would like a pompom cheer, do let us know asap by replying to this post, and we’ll add you to the list!
They may be damp, but they’re willing. My pompoms are enthusiastically going nuts for all you fabulous runners this weekend! Make sure you enjoy yourselves and whatever the weather, bling is bling! Good luck. 👏👏👏👏
And what an awesome bunch of runners we have this week! Have fun Freecloud , Hedgehogs123 , RosesAreRed777 , andRunBrianRun ! Pompey pom-poms will be waving for you all.
Goodness, our pom poms will be working hard, good luck Freecloud Hedgehogs123 RosesAreRed777 and RunBrianRun wishing you strong legs and lots of fun racing.
Thanks very much linda9389 and everyone, very much appreciated! This is why this is such a great community. Unfortunately there is a weather warning for the weekend over here, so I think I will just go out in a wetsuit and flippers and swim the course rather than run it 🏊♂️🏊♂️🏊♂️🤣
Wow - what a wonderfully varied collection of events! Good luck everyone - my pom-poms are already aloft and waving! 👏👏💪🏃♀️🏃🏽Look forward to the reports!🙂
My recently rained-on pompoms are finally refreshed and no longer suffering from heat exhaustion, so waving happily for you Hedgehogs123 , RunBrianRun , Freecloud , and RosesAreRed777 - have fun!
Haha yep, didn't plan my week very well did I? 2 races in one week, but atleast the one next Friday ends with lots of homemade cake, and if last year is anything to go by, it will be yummy!! More concerned that it stops raining, who wants soggy cake?!🤣🤣🤣
RosesAreRed777 have an absolutely great first 10km. Just enjoy it, don't set off too quick, remember to smile as you come over the finish line. Sometimes they have photographers there and most of my finish photos have been awful!!🤣
Thanks Hedgehogs, At least the weather looks good. I decided to book a hotel in Coventry and drive up tomorrow rather than on race day. It’s about a 4 hour drive 😅 And hey have a great time at your event too! Enjoy 😊
Thank you for the shout out Linda! That’s a lovely, fluffy and flowery Pom Pom too. 😀 This will be my first real race this year against the quickest in each of the areas in country including entrants from Wales and Scotland, in my age group. Wind isn’t a factor as it’s really all about winning. Luckily the wind is NW and not too strong either by the look of it. This is good because the track faces east so a chance of a decent time is also on the cards. I’m a little nervous to say the least as it’s a bit of an honour to be selected and I don’t want to let them down. 😬
Stopped off for a leg stretch in Stratford upon Avon and thought of Katnap and TailChaser as I strolled about. It’s very pretty and luckily not many tourists to bump into thanks to the weather. 😃 Tomorrow’s weather looks like it might behave itself too. Big test this one. Gulp. All tucked up in bed now at the hotel. Sleep tight all 🥱 😴
