Iβm back from my weekend of fun n games in lovely Lincs. I had a massive sleep last night and feel much better for it. I canβt believe how tiring it was. I must be getting old π΅π»
I ran the 1k kids race before the main event. All kids must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Who me? π. On the starting line my young charge was read the riot act by his dad. You must not do this, that and the other. He yawned as we got set, ready and go π§¨. His rapid departure left me stranded, with a thousand or so screaming kids, leaving their footprints on my back as they trampled me underfoot π³π«£. My lad zig-zagged across the narrow, speed-humped filled road, mounting the pavement and careening around the first bend, disappearing rapidly with me trying desperately to keep up. Fat chance! He was gone in 60 seconds. I had to stop briefly to catch my breath as I thought I might have a coronary π€π₯΅ Moving swiftly on I narrowed my eyes trying to catch a glimpse of him, and hoping he might slow up. Surely heβll fade soon π€·ββοΈ He didnβt, and the last I saw of him he was on the final straight before the bend towards the finish. He was done in under 4 minutes but I did manage a respectable 5 minute something π₯΅πββοΈ π
He got a medal, banana and water π I got to catch my breath before the next event π
The little lad who won logged a time of 3 minutes something?
I think I need to drop a few pounds to up my game for next year. If theyβre not bored of running by then π

Great stuff! Well done πͺ But the thing is most of these youngsters don't have the stamina for longer bursts and will run out of energy very quickly π
If he enjoys running he will work out that longer races and long distance relatives need a bit of respect. Encouraging him to run is one of the best gifts you can give. π
heβs turned out every November for my marathon finish to run with me in the closing stage, bless him. His little brother too since heβs been able to walk π. He prefers skateboarding though π€·ββοΈ
I taught a small one once... who always wanted to stay racing around outside after the dinner time break... we had to wait until he was ready... with my classroom support out there with him....waiting for him to get fed up of being on his own ! No π€£πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈpoint in chasing him,,,
Hi shug ππ nah I just let him fly off , but I wanted to try and stick with him as I was supposed to be running with him ππββοΈπ€ͺπ₯΅
All sounds very speedy! Hard to stay with even speedier youngsters! A thousand or so in such a rush, the mind boggles. Well done ππΌββοΈπββοΈπ
he is my great nephew. Thereβs two of emπ. I ran last year with the youngest, but this year I ran with big bro π Iβm making the most of it before they grow up π
