Long Run before HM

I ran 10 miles yesterday before my Hm in April. It was so sunny I was thinking shorts would be a better choice than my leggings! It was a route I plotted last time I needed 10 miles and I really love it. It follows the lanes around our 'mountain' then I follow lanes back to our house further out but still in view of the mountain. There is only one busy road which is one of those that trys to be a B road but some parts are too narrow for the white lines so it becomes single track ish. People don't slow down much though and Sunday motorbikes were roaring about too! I was happy to meet a few bumbling bees 🐝 and see lambs racing about too. The best sign of spring though was that wonderful sweet smell you get of the grass growing and spring blossom appearing.... oh yes and the running? Well I took it pretty easy - it is hilly but not too bad - if I did it the other way round it would be awful! I enjoyed it but really felt it on the last 5 miles - further evidence I'm not as fit as I have been for previous races. πŸ˜…

impressive Cowlady! I’m assuming you don’t have sheep as well as cattle or you would be up to your armpits in lambing. I love the spring too but the years I spent in the lambing shed gave me a somewhat different perspective 🀣🀣🀣. Enjoy your rural idyll!

🀣 no - there are dairy farms here who do both but I really think they're crazy! We are all Year round calving so having lambing on top must be..... well I can't imagine 🀣

Lovely weather for a countryside run, even if you felt rather warm. Not far to go to HM distance now. πŸ™‚

it sounds like a lovely run cowladyrunning. The sight of lambs is a sure sign that Spring has sprung. I am sure that you’ll do brilliantly in that HM. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ„

That sounds gorgeous 😊 Feeling those last 5 miles is normal and also a good thing, it sets manageable expectations for the event which will allow you to run a good race and to enjoy it πŸ‘ŒπŸ₯°
