Just a copy and paste from Strava this time π€£π€£
Bit of a journey for this one so am early start. Wasn't sure if I wanted to pace at 6:25/km as intended or go faster. Thankfully there were pacers there and I decided to try the 2hr for as long as I could. The three pacing lads were great but I was flagging and lost then them with about 7k left. I carried on as strong as I could and was quite consistent but really struggled at the end and was glad to see the finish line. I didn't see the clock so want sure of finishing time, one of the pacers was there a bit before the finish line shouting encouragement at us as we were running past, not got a clue what he was saying lol. Watch said under 2 hours when I crossed the line so I was a bit confused with that. Didn't know for sure until I got home a few hours later.
It rained for most of the run and I was soaked through so got my medal (silly wooden one) and goody bag grabbed a couple of sandwiches and went back to car to change.
Very happy with the result and glad I went for the 2 hours. However I definitely won't be doing that for the half marathon I forgot I entered into next week π€£π€£π

Brilliant sub 2 hour marathon - you must be really chuffed! And yes, itβs definitely okay to slow down now and take in the scenery on the next one! Well done!ππ
I'm not sure to be honest. I was a bit annoyed I didn't see the time when I crossed the line and my watch has been playing up recently so I couldn't trust it. I was soaked through at the end and a bit all over the place that I just wanted to get back to car get changed and go home. I tried to find the time on the website but couldn't even do that. I then asked my wife to find it, which she did almost instantly. She said the time but I wasn't really registering and had to analyse it myself. I'm still feeling a bit strange about it but that could be because I'm going through a bout of poor sleep recently (it's not new for me, I've been living with it and trying everything to beat it for most of my adult life).
Poor sleep and a race don't really go together, I'm so impressed though, I almost booked a half marathon then realised I'd only make the cut off time on a good day, so n ver did, I couldn't bear the shame of not getting round in time
Thanks very much. They are all part of my weekend LSRs in my marathon plan. This should have been one of them but it was one of the flatter courses and I wanted to test my knee. I was awake most of the previous night contemplating this and what bloody shoes to wearππ.
Ha ha thanks π€£. My first 2 were last year and I was slightly quicker with them. I can honestly say that if I was injury free I would have followed the 1:45 pacerπ€£. I've been struggling with a knee injury this year, it's almost gone now and I chose to try to run at that time to see if it held up. I'm pleased to say that it's still ok today. I have some annoying niggles at the top and back of my thigh on the same leg which kept me awake for most of the night. Hopefully they will get better soon.
