β Latest update: everybody loves Friday pompoms, except apparently the running gods. As you'll see from recent replies to this thread, both Dendev and Mudita have had to withdraw from their planned events this weekend π. This post has now been updated as the elves have just learned that M0use has a Jingle Bell Jog 10k this weekend.
Please refresh your tinselly pompoms for Sunday 11th December, and get waving to show your support for β¨@M0use β¨ in her first-ever event!
It's the Jingle Bell Jog (10k run) for Tenovus Cancer Care, described as a jolly jog around the scenic National Botanic Garden of Wales : allevents.in/cross%20hands/...
Wishing you fabulously festive fun, and donβt forget to send us your race report!
Anyone else taking part in an event this weekend? If so, do let us know and weβll get you added asap!

Hi, Iβm gutted but Iβm not feeling well and I wonβt be taking part, I have booked my next one for February which includes jumping over hay bales π so I have something to look forward to. Iβm hoping to run this one virtually so I still get my bling. Thank you βΊοΈ
Oh what a shame! Thereβs so much going around atm. But youβve made the right decision, you want to enjoy your first event. Take it easy on your virtual run too.
But jumping over hay bales is definitely something to look forward to π€
Iβve been so looking forward to this run but Iβm feeling rubbish (full head cold) so Iβm going to opt to do a virtual run when Iβm feeling better to get that bling (not how I planned my first event) many thanks for your encouragement π₯°
Ahh what a shame Dendev, but great restraint. A virtual run will still earn you the bling Iβm assuming, and there will be plenty more races to enter. Get better soon. π€§ π€
Have a great run Dendev; with a Pom Pom shaker like that we expect a pb!! Not really; it is obviously a fun run and the weather is a bit iffy, so take care.π
Thank you so much for your encouragement but Iβm feeling pretty rubbish (head cold) and donβt feel up to it, Iβm gutted but itβs not worth it as I wouldnβt enjoy it and probably wouldnβt finish it the way Iβm feeling. Iβve got another event booked for Feb so hopefully I get to do that one. π
Thank you so much @cmoi for the great pic and encouraging build up for my first event - but unfortunately I have ended up feeling really poorly with a horrible head cold, earache and I just donβt feel Iβm going to be well enough to take part. Iβm absolutely gutted but these things happen when you book things in advance and Iβm grateful itβs nothing worse. I do have the option of completing a virtual run when Iβm feeling better to achieve my medal (itβs definitely not the same and I feel a bit of a cheat) which I think is the wisest option at the moment. Iβm currently dosed up wearing my warmest pjs by the fire working my way through boxes of tissues. (And itβs snowing heavily outside -so thereβs a chance the run may even be cancelled - hope not for the other runners sake).
Thereβs always next time! Best of luck to @M0use on her first 10k run on Sunday, Iβll be thinking of you and cheering you all the way! Pics please. ππ»
Oh no Dendev75 , what a shame! I suppose the virtual version is some sort of compensation, but I'm inclined to agree that it's hardly the same as the real thing.
Mudita11 has also had to withdraw from her planned event this weekend, so I'll just have to put the elf to work elsewhere!
Unless @m0use is running an actual event and would care to tell us about it?
My classroom has been full of students with all kinds of coughs and colds so I suppose it was inevitable Iβd catch something sooner or later, rubbish timing! @M0use is running her first real event and Iβm so excited for her, we started our running journeys around the same time so Iβll be shaking my Pom Poms on Sunday for her! π₯³
I've just found her post on Bridge, but unfortunately it doesn't give details of her event. I'll contact her and see if she responds.
It'd be a shame for her to miss out, but normally we can only post pompoms for people who've replied to the monthly events posts on this forum, as otherwise we just don't know about them!
Tagging Irishprincess - got your pm, thanks. For some reason I can't get into chat at all right now so am replying here to say that @M0use is spelled with a zero as the second character.
There is just one positive in this that I can see - you still have your first race to look forward to and we all have time to get bigger pompoms. Get well soon.
Iβd already opted to run it virtually before they cancelled, Iβll have to see if thatβs still an option but if not Iβll rebook for the same venue as I was keen on running through the parkland.
Thanks for the pompoms a good wishes, just arrived at the venue but last minute cancellation due to icy conditions (not really surprising, it's arctic here π₯ΆβοΈ) Can I reserve the pompoms for the rescheduled event?
Of course you can reserve the pompoms for the rescheduled event, just don't forget to respond to the appropriate monthly post on here once you know the details. ππ
