This is the view from outside my favourite post run stop. The Walkway Cafe; home of fine flat whites and triple chocolate brownie. I stood in this spot this afternoon after my longest run since the middle of October. It was a bit overcast today, so I have used a photograph taken earlier in the year.
Now, 9k is an odd distance. Most of we HM runners would have gone on to round it off at 10k, but not me, not today. I am just building up again after injury, and at 9k an alarm went off in my head which said “enough; quit while you are ahead”. That is just one example of the instincts Tim has drilled into many us from the build up to 5k. His posts and the ESSENTIAL READING notes are legendary. An antidote for all of the doubts and stupid mistakes which dog so many of us when we start the programme. My heartfelt thanks Tim; you helped me, and so many others, change our lives for the better. 🙂
