Hello all! Now, on paper, I ought to have been able to do a nice 17k or so run today. Iβve had my beady eye on a particular route, and today was to be the day. But of course I managed to wake up with a splitting headache and runny nose (not covid) and thought I really donβt have it in me today! Best laid plans and all that. I even almost talked myself into not running at all, But I dragged my backside out of the door, and to be honest, after 30 seconds, I thought I donβt even think I can manage a couple of k today. However I told myself just ease into it, and see what happens. Well! I had a lovely 14k run up to the local country park with views to die for! I cannot tell a lie, bits were tough, but I soldiered on and Iβve had worse runs. It was a bit warmer than expected but hey ho, still 20 degrees cooler than that heat wave we just had π.
More excitingly I have new shoes arriving today. Iβm hoping my achier than usual legs of late can be put down to pretty beat up running shoes. They have cracks in the soles so new ones are probably overdue.
Have a smashing day everyone ππΈβοΈ.

Thanks misswobble ! Well done on your stony trail run, you need eyes on stalks for stony trails! Ha ha youβre just like my OH - the shoes just arrived and I havenβt taken them out of the box yet, been doing laundry, cooking, etc. Heβs hovering going go on then, letβs see them! Ok just took them out, here you go, first look π.
OMG π³. Are they the Invincibles π₯°. Been hanging my nose over em for months I need a marathon day shoe in case my current pair get knackered in training, which usually happens.
Youβll have to do a review at 50 miles ππββοΈπ
Ah glad you approve! Theyβre actually my 3rd pair now, they donβt last as long as some shoes and probably arenβt meant for trails, which I do on and off. But they are super comfy underfoot, and fit my wide feet! Unfortunately I donβt think Iβll ever get to find out how they are for a marathon π€£ but theyβve seen me through a few HMs. πππ
Ah fairly heavy Iβd say in the grand scheme of things, worn lighter. They are quite warm too but now the weatherβs getting a bit cooler that wonβt be such an issue π.
I find Nikes to be grippier than many other shoes and I often go off-road in them. The Pegasus shields are brilliant. My current pair were sale bargains and Iβm always out on the trail in them.
Youβre right, they do seem to be. Well, just took new shoes for an 8k whirl, I think itβll take a few runs to get into the groove! But thatβs always the way I find. Was funny seeing blue instead of black at the end of my legs. Have a great Sunday and a great run if you have one planned πππ.
Aqua shoes were in when I started running. I had four pairs at one time - Kinvara, Glycerine and two pairs of Karrimor Tempo Road and trail. Happy days
The first run in a new shoe is great! I hope you share many happy miles together ππ
I was mooching about on part of the trail I was running on yesterday, having dragged him indoors out of doors π. We ended up having a cream tea at an open garden π°βοΈπΉπΈπΌπ»πͺ·πππ³π². I came away with two jars of honey π―
Congrats on a great run, and very pretty pictures too!
Another Invincibles fan here. This pair is up to 425 km as of this morning (plus some unrecorded walking in them) and wearing quite well, I think. Most km I've yet got out of a pair of running shoes.
What with expected inflation, I've just ordered a pair of the Mark 2s, as I saw them for under Β£100. (Though if I waited I expect Nike will put them on sale at half price!)
Thank you ForbiddenPlanet ! Your shoes are in great shape - the soles on my now old ones had worn away pretty badly, but I think I had quite a few more miles on them. I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, so it wasnβt as huge a gulp to buy these, but I have visions of trying to create my own electricity by running on a big hamster wheel in the near future π€£.
Your new ones look great (and much more interesting and vibrant colour than mine). I'm wondering if I will get these to 1000 km - I've seen reports of people getting that and more. π€
Haha, I think HU could power a few wheels between us! Does remind me of this podcast which carried out a "Scientific", ahem, investigation into hamsters on wheels powering London.
Lol IP! I was thinking just the same thing. Itβs probably coming into the wrong time of year now for nice coloured shoes. My old black ones are filthy but the black hides it well. My OH canβt believe how much mud I pick up especially over the winter. But we are rufty tufty are we not! π
I once had shoes a similar colour and they stayed blue pretty much throughout the mud and rain. These are years old and now worn in the garden only π
Thank you Cmoi ! I thought of you as a tree that had fallen over blocking the path had disappeared. It really confused me as Iβd got used to scrambling over it and working out where I was along the path π.
Thank you so much RunBrianRun ! It was a really lovely run seeing as I had almost decided to nail myself to the couch for the day π. Looking forward to trying out the shoes tomorrow. Have adjusted the laces somewhat so fingers crossed all good to go πππ»ββοΈ.
Itβll be lovely. I used to love the first run in new shoes. Sadly I donβt buy those long distance cushy ones anymore. In fact Iβve got a few up for sale. One of them Iβve never even tried on π¬Do let us know how you get on in your lovely new shoes.
