Wow! It's here already! Are you ready? I'm almost ready but as with every year lately, it arrives faster and faster! π
So on to more important things...π€ͺ is Christmas for you;
A time to run
A time for a break
A mix of the two?
For me it's usually a time to run along with some extra walking and some cycling with Paul. I managed 96 miles across the Xmas break last year, completely unplanned, it just worked out that way. I don't think this year will be anywhere near that but a little mileage boost is always nice.
What running goodies are you hoping to find under your tree? I need a new pair of shoes but I'll order those myself!
A very Merry Christmas wish from myself and all of us here. No matter if you manage to run or not over this coming week, enjoy yourselves, embrace Nature if you can, and your loved ones, and keep smiling π
Iβm planning a break over Christmas and New Year as Iβve run 1829km this year! My goal was 1200km so Iβm excited to see what 2022 will bring. New trail shoes already wrapped for under the tree.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. β€οΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Hiya GoGo. Iβve just done my card drop bingo square to start my Bath Half training off. Canβt believe itβs only 12 weeks away! Havenβt done a HM since July due to my ankle issues so Iβm going to take this steadily. Hoping to do a short run on Wednesday to do the Christmas tunes square. Donβt think I can run for too long with those in my ears π As for pressies, I really donβt think I need any more kit (although a Garmin that didnβt constantly put me in Zone 5 would be good!), I just want my ankle better - a deep tissue massage on Thursday will hopefully help.
Today I also completed my 300th day of 10k steps, maybe Iβll treat myself to some new shoes when Iβve got to 365!
A merry Christmas to you and the rest of the team, I hope Santa brings you all something lovely π§πΌβπππππ
Always a mix of the two. I can never get out on Christmas Day but usually on Boxing Day π€
Like TailChaser Iβm starting Bath HM training this week so Iβll definitely have to run!
Iβm not expecting any running related goodies as I have everything but itβs always lovely to receive new kit π My husband bought me a stunning running jacket last year that I never would have bought for myself because itβs so nice I could wear it as an everyday jacket π
It's still mild in the South East, bit chillier in Kent where I am right now. I must admit I want to be able to use my fleece lined leggings again, been in the drawer for a couple of years now π€πππ»π
It's a time to run for me. Just starting week 5 of my 14 week HM plan, so as with two years ago, December and January are key training months for a March Half!
Today I ran my longest run since the March 2020 half, I did "half a half", 11km in just over an hour and it went well, still some gas in the tank so I am delighted to get over the mental barrier of half way there (though my legs may start objecting a bit later.!)
It's only my second Christmas as a runner, and my first since I (mostly) retired, so I guess it really has to be a time to run!
Weather permitting, that is. Gorgeous blue skies but really icy yesterday, so I didn't run. Today it's been frosty, foggy and grey (see photo) and temperatures haven't made it above minus 3.5Β°. Oddly though it's less slippery, so I went out anyway for a 6.5k pootle and really enjoyed it.
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it, and Season's Greetings to those who don't! π
I'm pretty much ready for Christmas - I think. Trying to have a quietish week before the house fills up (covid willing). I think I would also need to request some storage space for Christmas if I asked for any more running gear!!!
Our parkrun is on on Christmas morning and I haven't done a parkrun all year ... so I'm hoping to make that and then see how that affects the delivery of Christmas lunch. Mostly though I will be celebrating the improvement in my leg and keep chipping away at the bingo card. Happy Christmas everyone!
Actually linda9389 and GoGo_JoJo , the deeply worrying thing is that I found myself thinking well it's only two HMs, one to get there and the other to get back. π€―
(Let's ignore the fact that it's a month since my last HM, I've been pootling around doing short easy runs for weeks, and the temperature's below freezing. Does make me think I should get in another HM as soon as the weather plays ball though!)
Itβs a mix or rest and run for me. Iβm off for two weeks and hopefully being made full-time in Jan, so I am running with a bit more ease this week. I got a 19k solo run in on Saturday in a wooded area I really enjoy, and we had a full on snowstorm just as I began. It was just lovely seeing everything fill up with the fluffy white snow. I tested the local trails this morning and they were very icy especially on the downhills, so around halfway through I opted to run the rest on the flat golf course also covered in snow. I have one small group run planned with my trail friends on Jan 2nd. Beyond that I am maxing the relaxing and scarfing all the Christmas cookies I can find. As for gear, I have around 950km on my road shoes and 900 on my Torrent trail shoes, so if I can find a new pair of Hokas I will be happy. They are going fast! Maybe I will take advantage of the Boxing day sales if there are any left. Happy Holidays everyone and all the best for the new year.
Itβll be run where I can fit it in with 2x under 10s in the house. Iβm on week 11 of a 17 week Garmin HM plan, but itβs all gone awry over the last week due to a cold. Got my covid booster tomorrow (21st) so will run to that 11km and have a go at running home if I feel upto it (ran to the first 2 covid stabbing but got the bus home).
Will sneak out on the 25th, probably before the kids are up though. And hoping to get another long run in, probs NYE or New Yearβs Day where Iβll be hoping for close on HM distance and knowing me will probably push it for the sake of it!
Iβm planning on running as Iβm following a new plan. Might have Christmas and Boxing Day off as Iβll probably be doing all the cooking π§βπ³π₯
After that Iβll be running for the hills ππββοΈ
I hope to get some running bits from Santa, and a race entry πππ€.
Iβm planning on running in the morning - 7 miles hopefully.
I did just over 17km this morning π. Glad to have it it ticked off πββοΈ
Iβm going for an intervals run on Thursday. Or else π. Iβm dog walking on Friday, so another excuse to avoid chores π. Might gather some festive foliage for a door decoration while weβre out and about π.
Putting my tree up is a day-long job as itβs one of those that you have to assemble branch by branch. I managed to get the layers in the wrong order so had to start again π€
It looks great when itβs done though, but itβs getting a bit bald in places. I canβt in good conscience dispose of it to landfill, and I doubt itβs recyclable, so I keep dragging it out every year π. I might Freecycle it in the New Year. That would save having to cart it back up two flights of stairs π
π€£π€£π€£ I used to have one of those, they can look really good, it stayed behind in a previous relationship ππ»π€£ freecycle is a great idea. Mine is only in 3 bits now, bend the branches out, much easier. ππ»
Howdy and best wishes to everybody here!
I have come a bit in a down running wise, I find sitting on the couch under a plaid so much better than being out running. I really should kick myself in the butt and get out there. Now the past weekend (Friday - Saturday - Sunday - Monday) I could not run. On Friday I helped my folks to break out the old floor in a room and put in a new floor and just like with the previous room (couple of weeks / months ago), my body disliked the work enormously. I have been so sore in my legs and butt! I took 2 hot baths with Epsom salts, but they did not help a single bit unfortunately. Despite the work having been done on Friday, I still could hardly walk on Monday. Tuesday came and still feeling not up to running. I know I know, it might help loosen up those muscles, but beeeeuuuu. Anyhow, might try a short run tomorrow (Thursday) and I'll see for over the weekend...
Oh dear, yes, it can all get a bit much sometimes. Couches were made comfy for a reason... hopefully you'll get a couple of short ones in over the holidays though π€π»π
