Runniversary 1 year

Hiya,

Today 1 year ago I (re)started running with C25K. Honestly back then I could not imagine I would still be running 1 year later. I learned to run 30 minutes, afterwards 5K. Then I learned Jeffing, which caused me to love running even more. Distances increased and who could have thought that 1 year from starting C25K, I would be pushing to reach 10 miles aka running for more than 2 hours.

I must admit that it might also be this community which caused me to persist and keep running. You all know the experience of the toxic 10, a hard run, etc. You read through my whining and you all support one another. Luckily you all are here, because otherwise I think my family, friends and colleagues might have gone nuts with my talks about running.

Yesterday I ran another 5K - albeit a scary 5K due to an elderly man who kept talking to me for 30 minutes that in the end started to creep me out and it being dark in the meanwhile without there being any lighting in the forest and park - and this brought my year total of running to 570,9 km!

I am glad I (re)found running and that this time I love it!

Cheers, Evy

Happy Runniversary Hidden

Glad you’ve re-discovered running and are now loving it!

Cheering you on for your 10miles and maybe HM? ❤️🏃‍♀️

in reply to RunWillie

Thanks 😊. HM? Eh... I have thought about it in the past months, but I fear it would take too much of my body. 10 miles will already take 2h20 or so I think. I'm a snaily snail 😉

You will be able to do it if you decide you want too. Just keep loving your running 😍

Congratulations on your runniversary Hidden ! Enjoy getting to 10 miles and maybe more? Speed isn't everything, you know!

in reply to Cmoi

Thanks and more? Uhm... 10 miles are going to take already 2h20 or so, I don't know if my body is willing to go further, haha.

As RunWillie said, your body will go further if you want it to Hidden . There's no obligation though, it's up to you. The important thing is to have fun!

in reply to Cmoi

True... now my goal is to get to 10 miles and then I lower back to 10K and will keep to 10K for a while. Maybe that in spring I can climb up again to another 10 mile, I don't know yet. After my first 10 miles I have no plans as yet 😊

Sounds good to me Evy!

I haven't run further than 12.4km since the maratrail and have mostly been doing much shorter runs, as I've had other priorities. Also, the weather is horrible, cold, wet and foggy, which is not conducive to going out for long. Really hoping that the promised colder, drier weather will be here by tomorrow so I can get out and do the HUHM.

in reply to Cmoi

Fingers crossed you can do the HUHM! And yeah, the weather isn't really go-out-and-run-inducing...

Thanks. I've no justification for wimping out of the HUHM; it's simply that I'd rather enjoy myself, not just slog miserably around the distance. Tomorrow's easily the day when I have the most time available, so if the weather's still horrid I'll just have to get on with it!

G'luck!

Happy Runniversary BlackScorpian . It’s great that you’ve rediscovered the love of running through c25k. Good luck with your target of 10 miles, I am sure you will get there. I too run it in over 2 hours and I have no desire to extend this to a Half Marathon. Sometimes you just know how far you want to push your body. I enjoy 10k, and I don’t really enjoy 10 miles, even though I’m proud that I’ve done it .

in reply to Dexy5

Thanks and I fully understand you. A HM is a wish, but I think I have to be sensible and take care of my body. I want to do 10 miles as my max distance and repeat it maybe a couple times a year? But keep it to 10K otherwise.

Happy Runniversary!!

Hopefully he was just lonely, they can "latch" on a bit when they've found someone who will listen 🙈 sad really 👎🏻

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

Thanks and yes, I guess he was just lonely. But I was feeling creeped out by the end by his questions like if I had a family and why I had no man and such. Do hope I won't cross him anymore!

Maybe just make up a hubby or 3 next time! 🙈🤣

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

Yeah, nobody knows it, but in secret I have a husband, a lover and 3 kids 😜

The guy might have been scared of the dark and reassured by your company 🙂. You could outrun the guy if needs be. Another advantage to being able to run 👍

Congratulations on your first running year, and here’s to many more to come 🥂

in reply to misswobble

When he started talking to me, it was not dark yet. Plus he was on a road with lights. While I had to run in a forest without lights because he kept talking so long. But it was also the questions he asked. How old I was, that I looked good, if I had a family, why I had no husband, etc. I was really creeped out...

Oh gawd ☹️ Creepy git! Leg it next time you feel uncomfortable 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

in reply to misswobble

I wanted, but I had told him in the beginning that I was going for a run. Otherwise I could have said that I had an appointment I had to go to. But I also didn't want to be rude by just leaving, you know?

I use the "must get moving quicker or I'll get too cold" excuse 😉
