I had originally signed up for the HM but after a niggly knee sadly had to pull out. Iβm back on a half marathon plan so todayβs HU 10k fitted in nicely with a 6 miler on my plan.
Itβs heating up here so after dropping the boys to school set off before it got too hot.
My long run recommended pace from running worldβs calculator is between 6.55-7.47 so I was determined to stick to that. I had my easy run road shoes on to remind me π
7.22, 7.21, 7.09, 7.04, 7.06, 7.09, 7.02, 6.58,
6.57, 6.50
1:11:06 with an average pace of 7.06/KM
Happy with that and thankful I wasnβt running 13.1 miles today. Iβm not sure starting a HM plan just before Summer was the best idea π€
Oh well. Iβve started now! β€οΈπββοΈ

Congratulations on completing your HU 10k RunWillie, as I write this to you the time in the UK is 5.45am, at 8am I intend to run my 20th 10K which will be my HU 10K, a big difference in temperature, 6C, not the 20+ temperature you ran in, once again well done on your run this morning. π ππΎ
Hi RunWillie, I have just completed the Healthunlocked 10K which was my 20th 10K in a PB time of 1:08:44 beating my previous PB of 1:09:23 of over 2 years ago, very nice morning with a temperature of 6C.
Flat running is good, most of our running is on the flat. Hills are a challenge and useful in their own way, it really is beautiful there thank you for sharing
Excellent. Great pacing there, with a strong finish. I'll add your results. I'm sure heat will be a battle, but think of it as an extra training level - the real thing will be so much easier π
Iβve managed to increase my 5k pace this year but the majority of my runs are done nice and steady. Just a 10k today. HM in that time would be a miracle for me! π€£
Iβll keep running in the heat until the boys break for Summer. 5am starts are more appealing when Iβm not wrangling boys out the house for school π€£
Niggly knee is hopefully gone. My home shopping delivery got delivered very early a few weeks back on a long run day & I sprinted back to save the ice cream and fish! π Iβm normally fine if I stick to a fast (for me)ParkRun and steady for the rest.
Thereβs so much stuff going on, but yes, thank you, Iβm coping. Itβs my βone day at a timeβ strategy! Iβm off to see the house again tomorrow with my brother π
Brilliant 10k RW. Itβs a lovely distance isnβt it? Youβll get to HM no problem. Iβm looking forward to hearing how your training goes. πββοΈππ
Thanks cheekychipmunks πI donβt run many 10kβs as normally go longer or shorter. Itβs a great distance. Iβm hoping that following a plan this time for HM will work better. Iβm not Jeffing it this time as well π
