Slowest, toughest 5K in a long time πŸ™„

Well after a good steady 7min/K 10K on Saturday.. my knees felt achy.. which lasted till this morning, not felt like this for a year!

So I took an extra couple of rest days on which I just done my strength training..but wanted out this morning..

Right from the off my calfs everything from knees down felt tight as though my blood flow wasn't right, and felt slower with every passing K...

So I'm thinking iv not been drinking enough water, nothing else in my routine has changed.. hopefully it's just a bad day as I have a my 10K run Chester Zoo race a week on Sunday πŸ™

But glad I got out knees feel ok ATM

Any suggestions gratefully received ☺️

Sorry to hear this. You were right to rest for sure. It could just be one of β€œthose” runs. I don’t worry now when I get them. I shrug my shoulders and chalk it up. Sorry I can’t be of more help but good luck on your Chester 10k. πŸ‘

Sorry Caroline about your 5K run this morning, despite you running slow and steady you still found it hard, take a good rest, hopefully you will feel better soon for that Chester Zoo 10K a week on Sunday.

I guess we all have to have tough runs every so often, annoying as it is, still a good amount of time running though and be proud you did it

As everyone has already said, well done for getting out Sparky, and please don’t worry about it not feeling great. It’s all part of our wonderful sport - we never know how each individual run is going to go.

Take a bit of a break! Just run short runs from now to your 10k. Could be hydration or fuel, or it could just be accumulated miles in the legs. You won't lose fitness, but a pair of fresh legs will go a long way a week on Sunday. Try not to worry 😊

But you did it! Well done Sparky. Why is it with running we make great strides then boom, a toughie rears its head. I think it just makes the good runs greater. And your zoo race is just round the corner, so that’ll be a great one!

From our graduation.. through a year of weather,life, lockdown.. illness holiday.. ups and downs.. mostly we've ran 3 x weekly

I'm taking this hard run as a reminder of starting out..
