Well done to everyone who ran the London on Sunday, it was my 1st and last marathon marathon! I walked most of it and was ready to give up at mile 16 but I struggled on my painful hips! I completed in 8.5 hours! Lol

Virtual London - worse than childbirth!
I am sorry but when I saw your post title in my news feed it did make me smile!!
A huge well done to you!!!! An 8.5 hour mostly-walked marathon is an amazing achievement, especially with sore hips. I am very pleased to award you your Marathon badge, congratulations 😍
How are your hips today? Hope you're feeling better!!
Rest well xxx
Wow! Well done you. Eight and a half hours is such a long time on your feet. You must have an amazing streak of determination in you! Massive achievement, well done!!!
Choosing to go the distance, a full 8.5 hours on your feet, on the move, through the pain, is a massive triumph of mental strength. Total respect!
Well done!! Even if it is your first and last, that's a whole marathon under your belt! many congratulations, such a huge achievement! 👏👏👏👏
Congratulations ER on running /walking Sunday's London Marathon, ha, I don't know about the childbirth thing, but for some women runners in the past have compared that distance to giving birth, anyway go and celebrate your wonderful achievement 🏃🏾 👍 🎓 well done
Well done ElephantRunner 👍🏻
Massive kudos to you for carrying on with painful hips, amazing determination. Congratulations and Well done! 👏👏👏
Awesome ER! What perseverance. 👊 👏😀💥
Jeepers! I just read your profile. I’d say that running 10k a month after completing C25K would be pushing the limits but a marathon?!!! That explains why you found it so painful.
Congratulations on completing it. As others have written, that’s a long time to be active on your feet, especially when you’re not used to it. I think you’re going to need a well-deserved rest after that, hope your recovery goes well.
With that amount of resilience, I think you have the potential to be a good long distance runner but a (significantly) longer build up is needed (and would be a lot less painful). So, a month after completing C25K, you’d normally be thinking about what to do after your consolidation runs but I’ve no idea how that applies in your case. I hope your experience hasn’t put you off running but good luck in whatever you decide to do.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it but you have achieved something most of us only dream of so congratulations to you -a marathon runner!! Be proud- .I would be running around telling everyone in sight if I were you🏆🏆.
You stuck it out! 💪🏻👍🏻🎖😁 huge congratulations. Those who finished in just a few hours will never know what it is like to spend a long period of time on their feet to complete that distance. Big respect to you. Look after yourself.
That’s amazing that you kept going, huge well done
Thanks everyone! I keep hearing that it’s a massive achievement after only completing couch to 5k and running a few consolidation runs, so thank you all for trying to cheer me up. I have been walking quite normal today until I went food shopping and the heavy bags really weighed be down so my hips are a little sore but just had a nice Epsom salts bath. I guess because I have never really been a sporty spice I didn’t think I’d be good at it anything but running has shown me maybe I can be sporty spice, rather than posh! I can’t wait to receive my medal, but Sunday is still a little raw in my mind as one of them days I never want to repeat. I can’t tell you the pain I felt with every step by the end.
Hi ElephantRunner , people aren't just trying to cheer you up you know, it's absolutely phenomenal that you managed a marathon mere weeks after completing C25K, not least that you were in so much pain.
Huge kudos to you, and I hope you'll keep on running. But please do take things much more slowly and gently!
Congratulations on completing a marathon!
Total respect for you, you kept going with your painful hips and finished it. Amazing achievement ! Hope your hips feel better soon
Thanks guys! Feeling more human now and can almost walk without limping. Cmoi I will get out running again as soon as my cough/cold has gone! I defo want to carry on running as I really do enjoy it.
Amazing ER, such determination to carry on, and to complete the distance so soon after graduating C25K. I hope you are feeling better now and that your medal has arrived to remind you how amazing you are 🥳🎉🏅💥👏
