Hiya folks. I'm planning to run a HM distance to Trafalgar square from Barnet (North London). Has anyone done anything similar, and if so, which way did you go? Only been in the UK 5 years, so not a native (from Australia).

There are a few people here who live in London so hopefully someone will be along to advise. mrrun , any input?

If I have to plan a new route I’ll sometimes use this:

Whatever you do, good luck and enjoy it!

Mate, if you're after a HM distance you may as well do it in style. Nothing wrong with Barnet but nothing will beat running along the Thames. Try and do a few training runs from Battersea Park over to the Tower Bridge and back. Cross a few bridges along the route and visit a bunch of landmarks along the way (Parliament, Battersea Power Station, both Tate galleries, The South Bank, Shakespeare's Globe, St Paul's....). The route is flat and when you get tired there's so much to see to take your mind off of it. I've done lots of halfs around there and it's easy not to repeat any. You can even throw Hyde Park, St James' and Green Park in the mix. Have fun along the way!

I would look at a London Landmarks HM route and steal it and adapt where necessary :D
