I took the week off running just to relieve some of the mental pressure I had unnecessarily built up in my head. I've been stretching and doing light workouts but otherwise, it's been nice to take a break. I kickstarted my training with a 5km run which left me feeling very accomplished. That first run is always hard; forcing yourself to get out of the door - but it's always worth it!
If I follow my training plan, I have three more long-distance runs until I reach my 20km goal. So far I have run 15km - my farthest run - which leaves me with quite a bit of time to make it I think! More than anything I don't want to rush and injure myself, so I will continue to listen to my body and take those longer breaks if I need to.
It finally snowed here in the UK for a couple of days, I'd love to hear if anyone ran in it!

Well done getting going on your 10k to ½marathon challenge. I did my week 2 long run or 14k on Monday in the snow, it then continued snowing until late last night. On childcare duties for the rest of the week so no runs as I dont fancy snowy runs in the dark. Taking your time with no pressure to reach your ½marathon target sounds like a grand plan. I wish you all the best. Happy running 🤗
Sounds good! A week off can be great for recharging the legs. I've run in some snow, the last couple of weeks, but stuck to the fields as they're less slippy than pavements - still have to watch out though as it's so easy to turn an ankle on the frozen ruts under the snow. It's a slow business!
Well done for getting back out there, I know it's always hard once you've had a break! I took this week off because of the snow and ice and opted for walking instead of running- I don't want to risk slipping and injuring myself. Even when I walk it's more of penguin waddle on the icy roads 🐧😆
