Thanks roseabi. I'm pretty sure there are lots and lots of HU members doing this one. For anyone who hasn't signed up, it is actually still open. Entry is free, and all fundraising is for Cancer Research (with goodies to be claimed at certain levels of fundraising) if anyone else fancies it. There's also an audio race experience via an app called Auro (with a free 30 day trial) and a Penguin Party playlist on Spotify!!!
So if anyone else is mad enough to want to run 10k in the face of storm Darcy aka Beast from the East 2 - go for it!
To anyone already signed up - GOOD LUCK, I'll be virtually right beside you 😀
You can run at any time during the 7th (and they've added the 8th too because of the weather). Having said that, they are suggesting a start time of 10am so as many people are running 'together' as possible. I've decided to start at 10am, come what may. Tomorrow will definitely be about the experience, not the time 😀. Just hope I can hear the app over the howling wind 😅
Yes yes me too - am hoping the freezing temperatures predicted will stay away 🥶. I’ll be running near Okehampton so hello to any other Winter Run Runners out there too tomorrow. 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏻♂️👍❄️💨🌬☃️🌧
Good luck team! This time last year, we were prevented from taking part by Storm Ciara and this year it's Storm Covid. I was supposed to be doing the virtual run tomorrow, and my friend running it (in London!) but injury has got in the way for me. She's pressing on, snow permitting. Thinking of those taking part! Pompoms ready!
I kind of joined in on first half, as I did one of my 5ks and listened to the Auro App. Now I am very jealous to not have properly joined in. And my oh my, what a beauty of a bobble hat! Well done to everyone who ran!!!
As an aside, is anyone else having difficulty with the App? Mine won't load any replies and the most recent notifications are two months old.... I'm up to date in terms of the version, I've closed down and reloaded but to no avail!
Listening to it ... I may just run out in the one direction, then call for a lift home!!! At least we didn't get the forecast snow. That's now due at 11 😀
Good luck to everyone taking part, the worst of weather is to be in part of East Anglia and the South East, elsewhere its not to be too bad but still cold.
It sounds and looks very windy. Definitely cold. But as yet no snow. We're southeast, but just on the edge of the forecast snow so hopefully it won't quite reach us 🤞
Yes, no snow in Cambridge, I have just looked at the snow radar map, it's not too far away from Cambridge but won't snow where you are for at least a few hours.
It’s just skirting past us. Drove 20 minutes due East earlier and there was fluffy stuff coming out of the sky and some settling but not here! Son is outside at the park kicking a football with a mate so hoping the snow holds off as he’s barely left the house all week and I want him out as long as possible!
We should all get out in the fresh air for health reasons, whether it's running a marathon or just a short walk or a game of football like your son is playing at the moment.
Yup. I am just getting ready to set off. For once the weather in North Wales is just damp and wet. Need to get going (at 10) before it snows. Good luck to everyone else. Survival not speed is my mantra.
People have been so generous. The disease is awful. I have raised over £500 for cancer research and it is the first time I have ever tried a charity run like this.
Fantastic!!! That will keep you warm out there and make every step worthwhile. I watched their video last night and it had me in tears. I think tears may freeze out there today so I may have to make use of the Penguin Party playlist to keep hapoy 🥰
