Marathon training week 4

Having really struggled on the long runs in my plan, it was really nice for a change to do a good 10mile run at HM pace and not have any major issues as a result. I even got two PBs towards the end, which was a bit of a surprise.

A Contributing factor is probably the new shoes (New Balance Hierro V4) - they make it feel a lot easier and more relaxed, so my psoas and calf muscles feel much better.

Apart from that I think my legs are actually getting used to endurance running, and for the first time I’m beginning to think I might just be able to persuade them to carry me the whole 26.2 miles - but it’s still early days.

Let’s see if I can repeat today’s performance on Sunday.

Good luck to anyone else with their HM & Marathon training and a special YES YOU CAN to anyone racing this weekend!

The soles do look springy but they’ve got a surprisingly positive feel. Marmite trainers apparently according to the guy in the shop, who was surprised I chose them over a pair of Brooks Cascadia’s- which are just about the opposite in every way...

Brilliant. It's great when the clouds clear and sun breaks through for a while isn't it. Sounds like you're on top of this 👍
