For those looking to run longer distances during lockdown and worrying about where you can go, here are the guidelines for Scotland.

"local outdoor recreation, sport or exercise, walking, cycling, golf, or running that starts and finishes at the same place (which can be up to 5 miles from the boundary of your local authority area) as long as you abide by the rules on meeting other households"

I like the specificity! Not quite so in clear in England last time I checked. 'Stay local' ???

The guidelines have been this for a long time in Scotland so it’s really great to see they are staying the same. The way boundaries are drawn up it’s really easy to walk/run/cycle across one depending on where you live so I for one am delighted 🤗

🤔 I don't actually find that clear... let's say I start inside one area, let's use Liberton where my MiL is, run no more than 5 miles into a neighbouring boundary, turn, head into another boundary but not more than 5 miles and so on, never going more than 5 miles into the next boundary and ending up back where I started, that's still OK? That could potentially 20/25 miles but never more than 5 miles from one edge of a boundary... unless I'm missing something...?

You can drive 5 miles across the boundary to start your exercise then run all day as long as you finish where you started. Plenty scope for your long distances

Not this week. I'm being good this week, my feet do have a few things to say about my Xmas "break"! 👍🏻🤣

My husband has a few things to say about the amount of running and hill walking I persuaded him to do, actually he chose the distance he ran, I did my own 10ks
