I thought last weeks 18k was tough but today’s run was the toughest yet for me - awful conditions underfoot for much of it, rain ☔️ to start with, I felt drained by 14k and my toes👣 I don’t think I’d felt since 2k even though everywhere else was lovely and warm!
I was in two minds whether to carry on after I’d slipped on some mud! So I gave myself some encouragement and said get to 16k and see how you feel then. 16k arrived and I either carried on the route I sorted out on Wednesday or I’d head for home and complete at 18k,
I knew it would continue to be slow as there is a long uphill run to get to the main road through the woods🌳what the heck I thought I might as well continue now. So off I trotted through the woods slowly ran the hill and made it to the main road where there would be a downhill section to enjoy 😊 Turning the corner to the main road where I completed most of my Couch to 5k
I carried on slowly but surely - I still couldn’t feel my toes! 👣is it me or is Strava slow at talking to you at times? Eventually she said 21k and I thought just get to point 2 as I’m not sure about the .1 bit ! Checked Strava at .2 and stopped the run 🏃🏻♀️ not a pretty run, not a pretty time but my plan to achieve a Christmas half marathon completed ✅
Lots of time after Christmas to improve the distance time as I train for the HU spring half marathon. For now though I’m refreshed after a shower and I think I’m close to 400 miles on LEJOG04- wonder if I’m hitching a lift on this challenge?
Happy running this weekend to everyone 🏃🏻♀️👍

Congratulations on completing your Christmas Half Marathon, difficult run but you should be very proud of yourself for completing it under the circumstances 🏃🏾👍
Huge amounts of kudos Over62. That’s an amazing distance in trying conditions. Amazingly well done! Treat yourself to something nice this afternoon/evening, you’ve definitely earned it. 🥰
Congratulations! I think even more amazing given the amount of mental toughness you had to put in! That will also be such a help in any future runs like this
Thank you CBDB it was a tough one - I did achieve the 400 miles so heading towards Lancaster now I have the half way point in mind for a target 🎯 over Christmas 🎄
Well, I think this is terrific because it's another run where you got through. Come other runs or races at this distance your mind will recall you got through it. Gosh I've done loads of HM's all different times and the way I finish them now is far more comfortable than the earlier ones. Well done. Hey! WHAT A YEAR WITH YOUR RUNNING!! we go again, whether it's comfy or tough...we go again 😊
