My Friday long run came round again...sorry for the late post, life seemed to happen all around me after my run yesterday!
The good news was that the rain held off as I set off for my 18k plan it was though a bit chilly but I’d wrapped up well enough without getting too hot.
Most of my running takes place along canal routes which can go from a lovely tarmac surface to a quagmire! The said quagmires yesterday were at their worst so I had to walk steadily through some areas as it was too slippery to run through them, those muddy areas that I could run I could feel my calves building up muscle as I ran🤣🤣
I normally have a break at 14k just to take on more fluids and a piece of flapjack today with the cold wind I decided to keep going and practice the eating and drinking while slowly jogging, it went ok as I channelled my mind for the last 4K in a now biting wind. Winter had arrived but it has to be said not as bad as some parts of the country yesterday. 18k completed in a slow time of 2hours 21minuets -a tough run with lots of challenges, 20k next week is the plan and hopefully half marathon the week after weather permitting. Another 11miles in the bag for LEJOG04 too, I’m now approaching Preston.
Happy running everyone 🏃🏻♀️

Well done Over! Kudos to you for running in those conditions. Great distance too. 👊 😀
Mr Cheeky and I scoped out the towpath on the riverbank last weekend and deduced it would be no fun for me to run. Shame because it’s a great long run route for me. Bring on some dry weather. 🤞
I think ice is the one thing which will keep us indoors. Hopefully it won't ! I've run in snow a few times. Snow collects under your shoes, packs solid and then drops off with a reassuring flumph. The thing is not to go far. Out and back, keeping your weather eye open, and heading back as soon as you think it's getting too hairy.
