For those whoβre not out running this weekend - or even those who are - will you be setting your alarm crazy early on Sunday to watch the elite runners in the London Marathon live?
It may be wet β¦. but thereβs plenty going on for those whoβre brave (mad) enough to get out there this weekend and the coming week. So raise your (waterproof) pom poms high and cheer as loudly as you can for these wonderful runners !!!!!!!!!
First up, on Saturday we have Tailchaser running 10k for England against Wales in the Vitality Running World Cup, let's give her our support wherever your loyalties lie!!!
Then setting out to complete our virtual half marathon challenge this Sunday we have: Katnap, RunUsagi and Stephen-UK, braving the elements to run a wet and soggy 13.1 - what a great team!!!
With the last minute postponement of his real HM, Triumph-Tiger is now going virtual too (but has the luxury of waiting for a drier day). Heβll be in great company, with annettebrown, David_GKevin41 and SmilingTortoise1 joining him to smash their 13.1 miles during the week.
Also on Sunday, we have some ma-ma-ma-mazing would-be-marathoners attempting the virtual London marathon. So please send bucketloads of support to C3PO, CandyCool, GTFC, Jelly-Bean16, Madge50, Runfasterdoyle, Runsome, and β¦ maybe me too! Plus an extra cheer for razouski who is running a big part of the VLM to support a friend.
And last but definitely not least, later in the week, our very own weather-watcher will be taking on the virtual Brighton marathon, roseabi we all wish you a dry, gentle breezy kind of day!!!
To all these amazing, awesome runners - and to anyone else braving the elements this week(end), lots and lots of luck, have fun - we can do this!!!
If Iβve missed anyone with a race this weekend/week, do let us know so we can cheer you on too!!!
The Marathon Team

It's feeling a bit better today thanks to Co-codamol and frozen peas I'm feeling remarkably ok about it too as that HM badge was so near. Annoyingly my ankles seem to be in charge of my progress everything else just does what it's told lol so when it's better I'm sure I'll be back stronger and do that HM. Hope your leg is feeling better too
Ooh dear, still a real bother then if you're on the painkillers and peas. I'm sat with naproxen and a hot water bottle ... but a lot less sense than you ππ€
You will get that HM, you were close enough to know it will happen π
My daughter suggested I could have a well deserved glass of vino after this, glass? Glass? I reckon a bucket at the very least.......but, iβll be totally knackered, so not sure iβll be able to stay awake long enough to drink it π
Guess it depends on your pain threshold ... depends at what point your body hits the sweet spot where the wine numbs the pain sufficiently for you to sleep π
Woohoo wonderful runners! Bring it home for yourselves and all of us here cheering you on! Canβt wait to hear about all your runs. Gooooo - you know you can do it! ππππππππππ
Very best of luck everyone! Have fun, enjoy yourselves and Iβm sure weβll have a great time! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈππππ
Donβt be scared Madge50, just take it as slowly and steadily as you need to and youβll get there. Best of luck!ππ
Well whether I make it or not remains to be seen. Ankle not 100% but I will support my running friend however I can! Feeling a bit nervous. Now I have a stinging other ankle as I was had by a dog on my last short run yesterday. Did I mention that my luck had hit rock bottom!
Ahh bless. Well, the only way is up??? My ankle/calf is far from right too. I will be very surprised if I finish without the assistance of my bike. But there's a slim chance I might, so I've got to try! Will be thinking of you π€
It was feeling better so I tried 3k yesterday. It wasn't comfy running and it was horrid this morning βΉ. But at least my expectations aren't too high ππ. We can only try ...
Good luck everyone! Slightly worried we might have to swim rather than run πββοΈπββοΈ but nevermind. Enjoy and celebrate all that you have achieved x
Awesome to have all this support ππThe weather put a bit of a downer on things as canβt remember running in rain - been lovely for so long. But what a great boost reading the post and comments ππ
Cheers - am now seriously taped up and have been told it will be sore but he is pretty sure I won't be doing any damage by running on it, so we will see. My expectations are set: my plan is to walk the whole thing come what may - I want the medal and t-shirt - and if I manage to run some (no pun intended!) that will be a bonus, if I manage to follow the original run/walk plan I will be utterly whoop-de-doo!!! Good luck with yours - I will be sending positive vibes, support and cheers to our HU VLM posse all the way!
As easy as my running partner (who is now aiming for 5h30m π€¦ββοΈ will allow! I suspect she will be breaking away much sooner then we had originally planned. Just wondering if I'll have enough battery to listen to a talking book π
Oh dear! I'm sure we will have the same issue tomorrow. Was your route still passable? It hadn't occurred to me that ours might actually be impassable π€¦ββοΈ
At the moment, it would only be passable if I simply surrendered to the rain and mud. and ploughed through it. Hoping the rain will ease off later, but no sign of that yet. Iβve never seen the cat look so fed up.
Thanks. The guy I saw to tape it this morning doesn't think I will do too much damage by running on it, but suggested I should stop if I'm in excruciating pain!!! Well, thanks for the adviceπ
Thank you roseabi π Are you doing the virtual BM this week? Good luck if you are. I havenβt seen anyone yet wearing their BM t shirts but Iβll no doubt see more next week.
Happy running everyone! May your knees, ankles and everything else hold out and if you get wet ... well, itβll make the tales of endurance even more compelling π
Good luck everyone! Whoop whoop! Give it some welly and let's hope the weather is kind enough so you don't need to wear them!ππππββοΈπββοΈ run like the wind!
How exciting!!! Poms poms are ready... Good luck everyone and Run Happy. Keeping everything crossed and sending positive runny vibes from very wet Wales π΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ
