Ok... at risk of jinxing all I have achieved with my running recentlyπ, I have decided to sign up for a virtual Half Marathon, with the aim of completing it probably in October (not fullyworked out my progression from 10 miles yet!)
I have wanted to get back to this distance for some time but those niggly IT band troubles had prevented me before now. While all seems wellπ€, I think I should just bite the bullet and tick it off my list again! βοΈ
I think I'm going to sign up for the Virtualrunner Autumn Half Marathon medal, which gives me until the end of November to log the distance. Hoping to run it before then but it means there will be no pressure to run it before I'm ready. π
So, I have no idea whether this makes me part of your HM group? I am certainly enjoying following everyone's journeys and seem to be at a similar point in training, having done a 10 miler at the weekend. It was the slowest (and hilliest) 10 mile run I have ever done but my recovery from it has been so good I won't be pushing for a new PB any time soon!
Am curious about what races everyone is signed up for - is there a link to this anywhere?
Happy training everyone! π

Fabulous! What a great idea to aim for October but sign up for something that is open til November, takes away so much of the stress. I'm signed up for Oxford HM which is now virtual. It was 11th Oct but we now have til 30th Oct to complete it. Good luck moving forwards, enjoy!
Thanks Linda - I really want to build up 'by feel' if you know what I mean? Hadn't planned to be where I am now, so it makes sense to keep on going at the moment! π€π
Welcome to the HM posse Sandraj39 . Itβs great to have you aboard!π Iβm not doing any βrealβ HM races, so Iβll confine myself to the HUHM Virtual version in a few weeks.
I found it relatively simple to build from 10 miles to HM by running an extra km on my long run in each week. That might work for you too.
Fantastic Sandraj39 , great to have you in the HUHM gang! Iβll be doing my virtual one once the signup comes out on here, plus I have the actual Bath HM to look forward to (oh please let it go ahead ππ») next spring. All exciting stuff. ππ₯°
Iβm really looking forward to actually running it Sandra! I opted not to this year as it was at the start of covid, and I ran it round Bristol instead. Iβve never run a real HM race and I canβt wait! π
You have plenty of time to increase to HM slowly Sandra, so your ITB shouldnβt complain too much. Especially now youβve got super shoes. I wish up good luck and shall be watching from afar.
I really think that you have done the right thing. I also don't believe in jinxing things so you'll fine and ready in time π₯³π₯³ I like the sound of your last 10 miler. Slow and steady has so many far reaching benefits so keep along those lines. You will get back to HM and the Virtualrunner medal will be a super incentive.
It will mean a lot - it's been three years since I did my first HM! I'd very much like to do another 'live' one too at some point, if the stars align and I can stay injury free!!π€
