Wow! That did feel hard towards the end. Ideally wanted 18 but it was pretty warm out there and it was a new longest distance for me. Three times around the bank I know so well. Cows, geese, butterflies, dragonflies and ships galore kept me company. Chuffed with that but my little legs ache now 😊
17 mile run: Wow! That did feel hard... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
17 mile run
Wow well done! That’s a great run! 💪🏽
Thank you! I'm feeling it a bit now 🙈
Great running GTFC! That is a long way😮👍 - no wonder you’re tired now!
Out of interest, how are you fuelling?
This run I just had a small water and one SiS gel. I'll take another water and two more gels next time I go 15+. I didn't really used to have anything when I did my first few HM's. Now if I go ten miles plus I think I'll take a gel an hour.
Just curious 🙂- I’ve never fancied gels myself. When I’m running longer distances I have mostly used water and power flapjacks (quite famous on this forum!). I have also used Tailwind which I really like too .🙂
I've heard about Tailwind so might give it a go one time. I could take a little flapjack bar or jelly babies as well. It's all good fun though 😃
Wow that’s really not much fuel at all for that long!
It wasn't enough today if I'm honest. My water bottle is quite small too so next time I'll get another. I didn't really go out for it today, I was going to do it Friday but after one loop I felt good so carried on 😂
Have you got a hydration vest? I really love mine 😍🤣
I've got a cheaper Aonjie one and I do like it as I put my phone in the back and it's not heavy on my tummy 🙈 it came with little water bottles and I do like it for long ones.
Excellent run for you today GTFC, let's face it that deep inside you soon will
want to run a 26 mile marathon, you are gradually getting there with each long run you do. 😊 🏃🏾
I might one day my friend. I got the Metric Marathon today though that you mentioned to me before 🥇😁
I agree with the...WOW!! 🤩🤩🤩
That’s an amazing distance and time. Where could I be if I ran for 18 miles? 🤔Certainly into the next town. I wouldn’t see any ships, but maybe some canal boats 🚤.
It sounds like an amazing run!! Well done you!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️
Thank you. I could run from my Village by the Humber to Cleethorpes! I rather like doing loops though as I know how many I need for a certain distance 😂😂😂
Perfect! You’ve certainly got this GTFC!! 😁❤️
As my runs get longer I'm always looking for places to run to. Driving to somewhere and running just doesn't seem right but I've done it on occasions. I spend a lot of time on mapmyrun etc, I don't like doing loops much.
I live between Winchester and Southampton, and it's exactly 21k from Winchester Cathedral to the Guildhall in Southampton. Maybe one day 🤣😉
Ooooooooh! Yes. That would be lovely to aim for. I occasionally drive to a route nearby but mainly stay in the village I live in. Gosh, you're not far away from HM too!!
I'm in Southampton! Earlier this year a few of us ran from Winchester to Southampton along the Itchen Navigation on a very hot day. It was our city to city run!
I did a small stretch of the itchen, just between Bramshaw and Allbrook. And from the Winchester PnR to Winchester. I can't imagine doing the whole route without twisting something 😬 but it is a lovely walk.
Hope the foot gets better soon, PF is a right pain.
It was certainly trail territory and ankles went a couple of times! Lovely scenery though.
Off to minor unit with my foot as it is getting worse ☹
Blimey! I’m not surprised your little legs ache after that 🏃 Really well done to you 💪 you’re really eating up the miles. What’s the plan?
I assume you’re going for that FM after all....? 🙂
Thank you 😁 I think I may try, the last few felt tough today and was a bit of a reality check. HM is comfy now so I need to work on the miles after that. I know I've got it in me to do 20 so I'll try in a few weeks and see how I feel 😊
Wow look at you go GTFC. Absolutely amazing mileage reached. Congratulations 👏👏🏃♂️🏃♂️💪💪
Thank you Buddy34, slow and steady but feel great to a certain point. I need to work on the miles from 15 on as they are a bit tough for me at the moment.
More gels and water maybe 🤔
Absolutely! I only went for 6m but felt so good I kept going. When I feel strong like that I like to make the most of it. Up to 14 I was loving it 😁😁😁 I'll be ready next time.
Brilliant! Rest well, basking in that hard earned glow of success 🙂
Thank you Linda. Really appreciate it
Mahoosive distance GTFC, well done! 🏃🏃🏃🏃 You’re on 🔥 at the moment. 😀
I just keep going slow and steady. Thank you 😊
Impressive progress Dean. Soon be 20. Clearly a marathon is on the cards.
Oh just wow!!! Runners respect to you ( I am bowing 🙇♀️ ) fabulous run GTFC.
Thank you! The best thing is that it's nothing special. I started C25k in Nov19 then B210k both on these wonderful forums. Then up to HM and now beyond. Super Tasha99 then gave me the knowledge about heart rate training so I just plod about and get there 😊
Fantastic GTFC!! That's a great distance! Well done! You are on track for a full for sure
Appreciate this my friend. Thank you!
It is such a brilliant feeling to have conquered a long distance. Well done!
It really is, thank you 😊
All the best with your foot today.
What a fantastic achievement. Well done. Congratulations on the metric marathon 🏅👏👏👏
Yes! Really appreciate this. Thank you 😊
Well done 💪👍🏃♂️
Long run to Cleethorpes. How fab! My niece was there the other day on a beautiful day, on the beach 🏖
Long runs are hard going sometimes but you can divide them up into phases and speed up a bit if you feel like it. Taking a snack and a drink always helps things along
I hope you’ve recovered well!
Thank you, yes I really seem to like doing loops at the moment and each one is around 4m or 6m depending which turn I take up on the bank. I will try a little snack on my next long run just to see how I go. Really appreciate your advice 😊
Amazing run GTFC 👏👏👏I can’t believe you can get to such distances so soon after starting C25k. Love how you accidentally did 17 miles instead of 6 😳It took me nearly 2 years to get to HM. 10k is definitely my favourite distance though - anything over an hour (including other exercise such as workouts, cycling, swimming) and I start to get fed up.
Thank you Sandie. I really appreciate this. I really like the longer ones and my favourite distance is 10 miles. I always go with how I feel now and after 6 (one loop) I didn't feel my stamina quenched enough so just kept going. When I feel good, I like to make it count as other times I may not. Nothing spectacular at all really as I go at steady 11 min mile pace roughly, some were 11.30 some quicker when I felt it, but nice and comfy really. I think the programmes on here really set me up well and since following Tasha99 advice of running much steadier looking at my heart rate I've really noticed a difference. It is still a terrific achievement to run HM distance and something nobody can ever take away from you 😊
Well that's just ridiculous GTFC, you're on fire! I'm glad to hear you found it hard atleast, it'd be pretty crazy if you didn't 😂, good job 👏
Staggering effort GTFC and all on the calorific equivalent of a small bag of cheese and onion crisps! Makes my next planned long trot seem like a stroll in the park. You are a machine!!👏👏👏👏👏🙂
Hey! As long as we keep going out there, that is the main thing. Everyone is different but we all have the same thing in common which is to do the best we can, whatever that is and to run because we want to 😊
Exactly 👍
Have you seriously just gone from 10 miles to 17?!?! You are actually in-cred-i-ble.
I did my longest ever run (13.3k) at the weekend. Was thinking of you... my goal: ten miles, really comfy!!
You will get those 10 miles. Just read your post, honestly that is some going from you. Definitely 10 is there for you and within reach and that milestone is a crazy distance. You've come such a long way and deserve to be so pleased because by golly do you deserve it. I hope it felt ok for you.
You are such a great encourager. Thank you. Really appreciate you taking the time to give such warm, encouraging words.
No problem at all. I like to say out loud what I think and I believe in you so much. I'll be celebrating when you get there because you are ace!
