I was a bit surprised to see the email, and I’m only running 5ks for now, but in case anyone is interested, RunThrough seem to be holding 10k & HM Events again with Covid measures. Here’s the 26th Aug 10k link, in case anyone wants it...

RunThrough / Tatton Events Are Back
Hey there. Bit of a surprise to see you here, but a very lovely surprise ... just as the return of events will be 🤞. Thanks for sharing 😊
Hope all is well with you.
I’m fine thanks, Linda. Nice to see you as a moderator! ❤️
I don’t really belong in this forum, as I’m finding being a Strava-less 5k plodder 3 times a week seems to suit me best for now. I thought you guys, like my husband, might be desperately seeking a non-virtual race fix, though! 😊
It's great that you're getting out there again and that you've found a way to be happy with what you're doing and how you're doing it. Perfect! Oh, and you have all the credentials for long standing membership of this forum 👍💪😊
Aw, thanks - nice to feel I’m still allowed here! 😊❤️
I may get back to 10ks at some point, but doubt I’ll let myself do more HM distances. I suspect I’ll always prefer hillwalking to any other sport, so am happy if I can find an injury-free way to run to keep more active inbetween trips to the hills.
That’s so weird! I was just thinking about you today! How are you? Must’ve been a premonition 😶🤣
I’m good, thanks, I hope you are too. 💗
I finished C25k again awhile ago now, but am just sticking to 5ks 3 times a week, with no Garmin, no Strava and not really any forum stuff.
So far this seems to be avoiding me getting any injury issues, so I may stick with it! After 3 months of sciatica just before lockdowns, running 5k seems so much better than only being able to do short walks with a bad limp. If my knees or ankles are niggling now, I no longer have to try to work out if I should run or not. 30mins with a rest the next day doesn’t seem to get me into trouble anyway. 😃❤️
I’m not sure having my Garmin on and checking pace or building distance seemed to be doing me much good. My pulse and pacemaker are also not a problem if I just slow down if I need to, but if I’m wearing my Garmin and posting on Strava then I’m not good at being so sensible...😂❤️
Oh I hope things work out for you. I’ve had loads of success with low heart rate training actually and it’s far more enjoyable! I’ve also come off Strava - will I’ve made it private: I found myself comparing myself to others and thinking whilst running “oh this will look bad on Strava”. I feel free without it!
Good luck Xx
Haha...funny how we both feel like that with Strava! I thought I’d sound antisocial, but I also feel so much freer running without my stats posting there. If I up distance, and want my Garmin to measure distance for me, then I might do the same and just make it private.
Glad you’re enjoying the low heart rate training. I did look into that, but I couldn’t even walk with the pulserates I was aiming at, and my pulse shoots up far higher than most people as soon as I run even very slowly. 🙄❤️
I gave up in the end, as I feel good with a high pulserate, and terrible when my pulse drops when it shouldn’t. I concluded that having a heart condition and all my pulse come from pacemakers for nearly 30 years meant I couldn’t necessarily expect my heart to behave typically.
Good luck with your running too! 😊❤️
Great to see a few more races popping up....fingers crossed they get to go ahead.🤞🙂
The email says they’ve already successfully held one race, so that sounds hopeful. We did a Tatton 10k with these guys a couple of years ago, and were very impressed with how well organised everything was. So with the space of Tatton Park, and their organisational skills, they probably have a good chance of keeping their races as safe as possible.
That does look encouraging and sensible but not too oppressive covid measures. I did my half with RunThrough and was impressed.
