So my new shoes arrived today. Revel 3 Tropical Collection - They are things of beauty.

Of course, looks aren't everything so I thought I best get them on and give them a try. But how long should their maiden voyage be?

At first I thought a gentle 5k to ease them in slowly. But the weather was so nice I really wanted a long run. So I set the NRC app to guide me round 90minutes.

Compared to my previous Glycerin 16s, the Revels are not as comfy, but they sure are light as a feather. I actually forgot I had them on (isn't that what you want from a shoe).

The ball of my left foot began to hurt about 65minutes in and it felt like there was no cushioning, I was just hitting the road. This went on for about 15minutes then passed and I carried on as though I was running on air. 90minutes passed, and I'm about 1k from my house. Perfect. Until I see I've run 17k in that time. I'm sure I've still got enough gas in the tank to run parkrun right now, so instead of a gentle 1k walk home, I had a drink then set off again to clock up another 5k.

Thank you new shoes, you've just carried me around my first half marathon since I did the Plymouth Half in 2010.

It took me 2hrs2mins which I'm a little sad about as I'd hoped I kept under 2hrs, but considering I stopped to take photos on my way round, with a little more training, I'm fairly confident I could knock 10minutes off if I ran in an actual race. (My 2010 time was 1hr45)

Anyway, the time is almost irrelevant, that's another milestone to celebrate.

You can get 'Half Marathon' by your name now!! Well done you. That is a really good time and I do believe you'll get 1 hour 45 which by the way is nuts!! I love Plymouth and have been there three times (admittedly watching Town play there) and have a really good friend down there.

Well done though on another milestone run and best wishes going forward 🎽

Another Grimsby Town fan??? You don't happen to have relatives in Plymouth do you....I thought my mate was the only Mariner's fan!🀣

Thanks Linda.

My legs are feeling it this morning, so a few rest days then back out to see what the next adventure looks like. I expect it'll be a much shorter recovery run, but still just as enjoyable.

Need to get this Covid-Crap out the way so I can start signing up to events and earning some bling

In the meantime just keep practicing! At least the virtuals are getting a bit more imaginative now

Thanks Buddy

It's not a bad time really is it? It would be nice to think my 37yr old body was just as fit as my 26yr old one, but alas, I've got a lot more work to do to get back to that state. It's gonna be fun though 😁

Yay! Happy new shoes day! Thanks for the photos, they were worth the extra 2 minutes. The giant shoe/tiny lighthouse one is particularly good.

Yeah, I was trying to get a pic of them with the light house and it came out more arty than intended, but definitely better than I could have hoped for.

Might even make that my profile pic on here πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
