Lockdown and homeschooling meant that nearly 2 months went by without a run. The best I could find time or motivation to do was take my three little ones for a daily 1k very slow stroll, so my fitness level, quite understandably dropped off. It probably didn't help either that my wife has spent most days baking meaning I've spent most evenings eating thousands of very tasty calories.
Anyway, June 1st I decided was a good day to get back on the wagon. Early morning runs up on to Dartmoor in the glorious sunshine before work was a winning welcome back from Mother Nature (she has since turned her back on me) but I've worked hard and this week managed my longest run since the Plymouth Half of 2010, clocking up 10miles in 1hr40. Much slower than my half marathon pace of 10years ago, but with all the local events being postponed until October, I've got a whole summer ahead of me to train hard and pick up my pace.
I'm not sure how successful my discipline will be to stop eating all those cakes mind!π€£
Hope everyone is doing ok in these very strange Covid times.
