Hope all is well with you chaps, let us know what's on your mind! Any plans, problems or just passing thoughts, post them here!
I'm quite excited by the introduction of mandatory temperature checking any time we enter the building for my work; this morning I had to stand on a dot and stare into a camera...whereupon an American voice recording kept telling me my temperature couldn't be obtained and I had to move closer. My nose was pretty much pressing the thing by the time it managed to read my stats - which turned out to be a non concerning 36.5 degrees C. Boo! So I had to do some work. I'm still not sure of the implications of warmer bodies being ousted from the building, lunch runs could become problematic... It all felt very sci-fi though. Looking forward to the flying auto-taxis being implemented!
Any peculiar new twists to your lockdown routines?
If you're new here, or just taking a look and getting comfortable before posting, hello! This post is a great place to introduce yourself if you're ready to do so.
If you are interested, there are plenty of workouts you can do at home from the YouTube library over on Strength & Flex, they are perfect for lockdown or even comeback from injury (use your judgement on the latter of course!)
It does all sounds very sci-fi but I imagine weβll have to do this regularly in all sorts of areas of life... weβve ordered a forehead digital thermometer so we can test each other and obviously everyone who comes into the house, when that eventually can happen. Not quite the same as giving someone a hug βΉοΈ (I mean loved ones not the dishwasher repair man π€£) but hey ho, the new normal.
Iβm still in a good exercise routine and have returned to my beloved arboretum after weeks of road running. Love, love it! Iβll mix them up for a while now.. And Iβm still getting loads of gardening work done so all is good.
Well, weβve been using this for a few days now. You have to set it up initially so that it shows when your temperature is over a certain level. But once thatβs done youβre all set. Itβs very easy to use and accurate (we have an old-fashioned thermometer and so tested on this first).
It is pricey compared to others but some friends recommended this one to us so we went ahead with it.
All good so far, but weβve had no visitors so canβt wait to use it on others π
Ooh how futuristic Squeak! I'd be going for that lunchtime run and hoping to be sent home for a nice bath I think! Same old, same old for me as far as lockdown is concerned. Creeping ever closer to the end of the month when my son will be home from Uni, I feel that will be a very challenging time but I have another 3 weeks or so to bury my head in the sand. Happy to report that my foot issue seems to have gone - three short slow runs without pain were a promising start. All ground to a halt on Thursday though when I trod on an almighty thorn that went straight into my big toe. It's still swollen and painful so running isn't very appealing just now. Am sure it won't be too long thougg. Not sure why my feet attract so much trouble !!! Happy running to those who can π
The four of us have managed OK and established a reasonable lockdown routine without too many sparks. Adding one more will definitely shrink the space as you say, but it's also going to add a lot of tension regarding 'rules' I think - he's been playing by his own rules and isn't one to be told what to do. Sigh. I see trouble ahead ...
Oh no! That sounds painful π« Hope itβs feeling a bit better today Linda. All these things trying to scupper our running π‘
I was out watering my pots this morning and I felt a really sharp nip on my foot as if Iβd been stung but I couldnβt see anything that could have done it. My first thought, of course, was βoh no will this get in the way of my running?β
Ouch! Hope it's OK. I'm going to try a run tomorrow as the swelling is definitely better today. Now it's gone down a bit I see there are actually two puncture wounds. Can't quite figure out what happened π€
Hope the run goes/went well.....if you have two puncture marks it indicates a bite doesnβt it? Mine has not come to anything thank goodness. I did hose my foot immediately afterwards so maybe if it had been a bite I washed it away.
Definitely a thorn - I had to pull it out of my toe/shoe, still attached to the stick. So either two spikes or it went in and out, but the angle wiuld be all wrong. Odd! But improving so all good π
So little has changed for me as a result of the pandemic that I almost feel embarrassed!
We did get a slightly futuristic gadget last week, actually. My husband bought this thing for making grilled sandwiches in the microwave, and it's actually pretty good! We can only make one toastie at a time though, so I suppose we'll just have to form an orderly queue. At least we won't have to bother with being 2 metres apart π
In training news I did another run from the car along the South Downs Way last week, which is a lovely thing to do. I've been getting out on my gorgeous new bike more, and also finally went for my first sea swim of the year!!! Despite the lovely weather we had last week I was SO COLD afterwards!!!!!! We had just been introduced to a neighbour (a paddle-board owning neighbour with a garage, no less), but all I could say was "Hi! Bye!" as I had to run home and stand in a boiling shower shivering. I am such a wimp π
I feel you on the temp. Iβm starting to think I have lizards blood and can only be warmed by bouts of heavy sun. I agree with Linda, you are a certified badass πͺ!
Our work has been doing these temp checks for a number of weeks for those who must go in. But 90% of us are WFH now, myself included. Till Sept by the sounds of it. All very surreal.
I am still on the IC. Almost got the green light to run yesterday, but there is still just a bit of pain in the knee descending stairs. Seems to be IT band related. The run break has allowed me to up my cycling a bit which I am enjoying in spite of my heavy beast old mountain bike. The weather has been beautiful too. Happy running everyone!
