Sunday 5th April - City Run 1 HR

So it wasn’t the City of London on this fine April morning like it was supposed to be, no cheering crowds, no race buzz... but protecting lives is the priority right now and that’s totally OK. I completed my 1 hour virtual challenge with 1000s of others today... alone, safely practising social distancing and using my daily quota of one exercise a day outdoors.

This run was for #feedNHS a fantastic campaign to help our NHS heroes through this crazy and unbelievably challenging time. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say... I wish I could do more.

@cityrunsldn provided a beautiful race shirt, lovely shiny medal and a protein energy ball. Just an idea but I would be happy to wear my race shirt again at next year’s event.

This wasn’t how I imagined the event to be today, but I know I will come back stronger in 2021.

Anyone else doing their challenges virtually? Xx

One of the nicest shirts I've seen. What a beautiful day for it. Well done for being adaptable and embracing the situation in such a positive way. Great job 👏👏👏😍

Thank you Linda, I went out about 8:45am to beat the sunshine. It was a bit of a plod along in the heat I was just shy of 5 miles... I’ll try harder next year haha! Maybe you can join me too ❤️

It’s a gorgeous colour isn’t it. I was actually going to give this race-event-turned-virtual-challenge a miss when I got the email. But when the race pack arrived it seemed such a shame to not go ahead with the bright and happy coloured goodies. And then I decided that running for #feedNHS would be a nice sweetener.

There was also a bounce protein energy ball which was delicious and filling, I’m definitely going to order those 🙂

Life and the Universe have been a bit unkind recently as far as running goes. ☹️ Sore foot had me on the IC for a couple of weeks, and then - with very poor timing - Mr GS’s health took a sharp dip. We have been in various forms of medical tests & treatments but luckily in our lovely local hospital. More stable now so hoping to be signed off on Tuesday. Anyway, I’m enjoying reading about the successes of others! Keeps me going.... Take care. 💕👍

Ah no I’m sorry about your sore foot and Mr GS being unwell. Sounds like you are in good hands. Not a bad thing to have a bit of a rest and reset and then come back stronger. Your support on here is appreciated so thank you for reading our stories x

I’m trying to be positive for myself, but of course it’s always easier to tell someone else than to do it! 🤣

Ofcourse! I’ve had a bit of a dip in mood myself. Do you know I wasn’t even going to do this virtual challenge this morning, I was simply fed up of my races being cancelled this year... but I got out there this morning because I knew that I would be doing myself a big disservice if I didn’t 😌 We all have that little voice making us accountable to ourselves 😍

Good cause you are supporting too. 😊👍 Our son volunteers for Fareshare, which is doing something similar I think. Happy running.

Awww lovely JaoJao! What a fabulous shirt. You definitely made the right choice completing that challenge. Really well done you. 👍

Keep your spirits up. This will all be a dim and distant memory one day, even if it’s not soon. Let’s all keep each other company in the meantime. 😀

Stay safe, stay well and keep running and smiling. ❤️

Thank you cheeky. It’s really great to see people keeping up their running plans amongst social distancing like an anchor, how lucky and blessed are we to have running to help us get out when we need it most.
