Walk the dog or go for a run 🤔

Now that we are only allowed out once a day to exercise, does the dog get 2 walks a day (morning with Mr S and afternoon with me) or am I selfish and still go for a run a couple of times a week? Pity the pooch is far too old to run with me. We’ve got so far with the VRWC too 😩

Go for run, then walk to a local shop for essential food shopping with the dog?

Creative thinking Hillrunner2201 . Sadly I live in a village with only a little Co-op. The nearest supermarket is 4 miles away!

I think that you need your couple of runs per week; that is not selfishness! I am going to have to find a (lawful) way too despite competing demands - dog, shopping for us and others, aged mother who needs support etc etc. Not bothered about the World Cup thing really....I enjoy being part of it but it is nothing in the context of the life and death issues we are facing. But we, and our health are important too. So just find a way 😊

I have to say, Hillrunner2201 idea has grown on me. I usually pop into the Co-op a couple of times a week between the weekly supermarket shop for milk or something, so could schedule this for dog walking time on a run day. Thank you both! Look after yourselves 😊

The weather may come to my rescue; I run in conditions I would never expose Molly to !!

VRWC is still okay for now. Just as long as we don't have a full lockdown!

Do you have a green area to run in Sandie? Could you let Ben trundle around while you do intervals and keep running back to him? 🐾🏃‍♀️

Unfortunately not without getting the car out - village set amongst farming fields. I think I am going to create combinations of running for exercise and walking Ben to the Co-op or maybe running to the Co-op in the next village (approx 2.5k each way) with a rucksack for essential food shopping and walking Ben for exercise. Only planning to keep running twice a week, so it will be manageable. Main problem now is trying to get through to Sainsburys to persuade them that my online account is for the aged parents with no internet and not for me. Mind you, they haven’t had a letter, so are still walking to the shops 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hope you are OK xx

My dad, an 85 year old diabetic cancer survivor doesn't qualify for a letter either - he's still walking to the supermarket - I told my parents to see what is available online....

my sister will also help, she's living with them at the moment

I checked both Sainsbury’s and Tesco locally to them - no delivery or click and collect slots for at least the next 3 weeks and they “don’t like to ask” their friend over the road if her son can get some shopping for them when he gets his mum’s 😫

Ahh ok. Still, running twice a week plus dog walking will certainly keep you ticking over. We were just joking that Flossie has breached the one exercise outing per day rule - she went for a walk with Mr Cheeky first thing, then a run with me a bit later! Oops! 😅

Nice that your parents are able to walk to the shops for now. 👍

We’re all ok. Got everyone living back at home, including baby! We’re lucky I know. ❤️

Take tons of care. Xx

Haha, I don’t think one exercise a day applies to dogs! I’ve also restarted my Toned in 90 Days home workout plus it’s lovely weather for gardening so keeping busy. It’s so nice you’ve got all the family there - lucky you, lots of granny cuddles 🥰

OMG imagine how fast you’ll be after another of those! Supersonic Sandie! 🚀

Yes, having our little babber here is joyous. It’s so fortunate they came to live here - otherwise they’d have been confined to a 1 bedroomed flat in Bristol with no garden. 👎

Oh that would have been hard for them. My son is confined to his shared house in Wimbledon, working on his knee because he hasn’t got a desk or even a dining room table, but so far he’s bearing up. Main comment was that he could have rather long hair by the time this is over 😂😂

Oh bless him! I suspect there’ll be quite a few Yetis by the time this is all over! 😅

As somebody said elsewhere, we are only 4 weeks from knowing everybody’s real hair colour 😂😂

you have to do a cool down walk no? pick the dog up on your cool down walk - it's time you would be outside anyway, so you're not "cheating" per se, just multi-tasking.

You might have to change route to make it doable but it might work a couple of times a week

I'm lucky that our dog has only been used to one walk a day, and hubby is working from home so that's his exercise for the day! If it comes to it I can run round the field we usually walk her in in place of her walk, but riding with her ain't happening 😨
