Iβve thought of nothing else all this week. Will it go ahead or wonβt it? Please cancel it. Ok - itβs not cancelled so what should I do? π€
My last post on here stated Iβd decided to run it virtually, so thatβs what I did this morning. The weather was - let me think for a moment - oh yes, appalling. π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ But it wasnβt particularly cold so I ran in my charity t-shirt and wore my number as recommended by the FB group Virtual Bath Half. Weβre hoping to still get our medals once weβve sent proof of our runs! π π
I freestyled my route. I suspect it was very similar to the Bristol Half Marathon route, but I really enjoyed it. My legs behaved and I lopped a respectable 18 or so minutes off my one and only other HM distance run back in September. π
I came across loads of other Bath Half runners. β€οΈ We all grinned and congratulated each other, and I even got an appreciative horn honk!
Whoops whoop Munks πββοΈπͺπ ππ thatβs brilliant! And 18 minutes off! Fabulous work π Congratulations and well done especially in the weather, it was dire.
I really hope you get your Bath badge, itβs only fair. Your mum would be very proud, Iβm sure x
Yes GOG, a wet chipmunk indeed. I stopped caring the moment I stepped out of the car - and I was smart by not wearing any mascara. That would have resulted in a hybrid chipmunk/panda! π π
Absolutely brilliant CC...the never say die attitude of a true warrior and musketeer! Brilliant time too. You can look forward to next week now without having to worry about whether you should have run or not...apart from risk of exposure pneumonia etc etc π . Huge β...@Dexy5 says that means respect...apologies if she is winding me up and it is actually something inappropriate π . ππππππ₯π
Hahahaha, yes Dexy5 βs right, donβt worry. There is an inappropriate emoji which my kids send to each other which I find quite funny, but I wouldnβt post it on here! π
I thought of you today actually BC - I utilised my βdiesel engineβ and chugged along happily and squelchily! π
Fabulous Cheeky. A soggy end to an anxious week! You've done your mum proper proud. Congratulations on your PB too. Seems like around half the entrants didn't turn up to the official event - we weren't the only ones with doubts after all.
I absolutely am. I haven't had even a flicker of regret. I think if we hadn't all been meeting up I might have made the choice sooner. It was a lot to give up. But we'll be back! We'll manage lunch one day π
Congratulations cheeky, so glad that you weren't totally alone on your virtual HM. You so deserve that bling. I hope the organisers come up with the goods for you. πββοΈπ¦π you have shown amazing strength of character and your mum would have been so proud of you .π
Thanks Baddie! The whole run felt good I must say. My training has clearly paid off a my legs didnβt go on strike like they often do at 13/14k! πͺ πββοΈ
Fantastic run cheeky and 18 minutes off your previous time is absolutely gobsmacking! Your mum certainly would have been very proud of you. Itβs hard doing it with all the razzmatazz but on your own is a real feat of endurance. Beware, long post coming from me when I get home this evening!
Thanks Sandie1961 ! Running knowing Iβd raised a good amount of money and with mum in my thoughts really spurred me on. The PB was an unexpected bonus! πββοΈ
Looking forward to your post very much! Youβre a real superwoman! πͺ
Oh massive congratulations Cheeky!! Itβs great to see your smile! Well done you amazing lady!! You did it!! ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ β€οΈ
Thank you Fabbo! It was empowering running along in the pouring rain, knowing so many people had sponsored me. I couldnβt let them, or my lovely late Mum, down. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Huge congratulations. A great hm time, a dazzling smile, and a lovely way to remember your mum. I was thinking of you when I was out running today. πππ x
Wow, that must have been so tough on your own, huge determination and gumption on show there cheeky!
Knowing Strava would have a record and that we were all thinking of you, and doing it for your mum must have helped a lot....but those were your legs and feet pounding out that run, I hope you feel really proud of yourself.
I do hope those medals are rewarded to you virtual runners, you totally deserve them.
Aww, yes BBR, the knowledge that loads of people were supporting all us solo runners was fantastic indeed. It certainly helped my little legs keep going! πββοΈπββοΈ
brilliant ccm - such an inspiration - you did it on your own terms, but all your training wasn't "wasted". I hope you get your medal, but even if you don't, you will always know you did it!
Thanks BIT - yes Iβd put in so much training to run the distance comfortably that I couldnβt let it go to waste even though Bath itself didnβt appeal to me - and thousands of others by all accounts. β€οΈ
Thanks UpTheStanley ! Well Iβve already signed up for the Bristol HM in September 27th, so New Forest would be several thousand steps too far! Next year though ...... with both of you? ππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ€
Thanks SkiMonday ! It was mighty wet round these parts wasnβt it?! π¦π¦π¦ The PB was totally unexpected and a real bonus! πͺπββοΈπ
Oh how did you manage to go out in that cheeky?! We waited until this pm to do our 10 miles. A very, very well done to you and absolutely brilliant that you can still get your bling πππππ
Well done Cheeks! πͺπππββοΈπ ππ°π¦π
Shame about the lousy weather but we canβt always get what we want π
I am thinking of running the HM cancelled for Sunday. They say we can have our medal Ive not had my number yet but some have. I was planning on running the distance anyway as Iβve trained for it π
Thanks MW, yes the weather wasnβt great, but somehow it felt quite nice and the rain hid the little tears I had whilst running along thinking of my mum. I was running in her memory and my charity was the Alzheimerβs Society. Those things spurred me on no end. π
Enjoy your virtual run too. Great that youβll get your medal. Bath has capitulated and has agreed to send us virtual runners our medals and tee shirts. ππ
Congratulations to you! Brilliant! So impressed with your running in the light of disappointment! πΎπ₯ππ»ππππ π₯β‘οΈ ππ»π€ΈββοΈπββοΈπ€ΈββοΈππ»π€ΈββοΈπββοΈπ€ΈββοΈApologies for delay, haven't had a moment to read posts.
Aww thanks over61. Massive disappointment indeed, but it didnβt feel right running the actual event, for me anyway. Still, I enjoyed my wet solo HM and Bath have agreed to send us virtual runners our bling and teeshirts in recognition of our efforts - yay! π
