Well, I loved most of my run today - I ran up onto our local bridleways and trudged through several miles of mud and puddles before heading back towards the pavements of my local village for the last 3k. The mud did not defeat me (yes, it slowed me up but that's ok) and the weather was good - mild and a slight breezeπ. But like Irishprincess the other day, my IT band decided to play up during the second half with that familiar rubbing feeling on my outer knee.π In addition to this as I approached 12k, I had the familiar start of a 'silent migraine'. I have experienced these on occasion, for many years - you get the visual field distortion (zigzags) without the accompanying headache. Sounds weirdπ€·ββοΈ (and it is) but they come and go within half a hour usually, after which normal service is resumed! They are not specifically triggered by running for me and I am just glad it came at the end of my run rather than half way through, as I still managed to get my planned 12k in the bag!π
So, maybe not a great run but I did enjoy the first half - and am feeling chuffed that I got out and ticked off some miles!
Happy running!π

Anyone who enjoys running through mud has my respect! I keep avoiding routes because of the mud potential (though you wouldn't think so based on the colour of my shoes!). Anyone who has migraines has my sympathy! The lack of headache is a definite bonus, but the distorted vision is really unsettling in it's own right. Most importantly though, I hope the ITB issue doesn't develop further - fingers crossed that a bit of rest, stretching and rolling can make it behave π€. Here's to more good runs π€
Thanks Linda. I frequently find myself thinking 'why did I come this way?' when I know exactly what it's going to be like!π€·ββοΈ The ITB was a real nuisance π and I am just hoping that it will settle again. Usually it might niggle a bit but today it definately slowed me up. Like you say - lots of rolling and stretching...π€
I had ITB niggles as I extended Distance to 10 miles last year, and itβs not nice. In fact itβs one of the reasons I am happy to keep my running to 10k max now. My body seems to like that distance.
Those migraines sound awful, I hope they donβt occur too often sandraj39.
A bit of a saga! Well done for getting it done πππ
I get migraines without headaches too! I find them debilitating nonetheless, and they're quite difficult to explain to people who think a migraine is "a headache" π
I get the weird headacheless migraine too. Mine is usually stress related, particularly emotional stress. I usually pop a migraleve and that does he trick. Sunlight flickering through trees can be another trigger. I was in third recovery run post virus mode on Saturday. I managed a slow 8k but "felt" my calf a bit about 4k in. I managed to run it off, but there is still a bit of a niggle there. So, like you, hoping that it is nothing. Dog walk and stretches later should sort it. Good job we are tough! Hope the ITB sorts itself pdq.
